Techniek : De Stahl Tek Vekian is een echte referentie DAC. Gebouwd rondom 2 dual mono D/A Converters, in een volledige gebalanceerde uitvoering. De Stahl Tek Vekian is een echte multibit DAC, welke signalen accepteert tot 192KHz en 32 bit. Deze uitvoering van de Vekian is de laatst gebouwde versie, dus met de extra i2s ingang. De unit is zeer stabiel en zwaar uitgevoerd, en een groot deel van het gewicht van 25kg komt door de zeer uitgebreide voeding. De voeding staat volledig in klasse A ingesteld, vandaar dat de unit enigszins warm wordt bij gebruik. De upsampling gebeurt door een hardwarematige module, een  Stahl Tek eigen module. Meestal gebeurt de upsampling door een stukje software in een chip. Er is een grote aandacht besteed aan het dempen van alle onderdelen in deze Vekian DAC. De Stahl Tek Vekian is een zeer doordachte DA Converter met maar 1 doel, het zo analoog mogelijk weergeven van de muziek. Dat is volledig geslaagd want deze Stahl Tek Vekian DAC is 1 van de beste DAC’s die we gehoord hebben.  

Luisteren : We hebben de Stahl Tek Vekian uitgebreid beluisterd op onze reference set, dus inclusief de Bricasti M20 gebalanceerde voorversterker, en de Bricasti M32 monoblokken en als luidsprekers de Blumenhofer Gran Gioia SE. Op deze installatie hoor je werkelijk alles. Het eerste wat opvalt is de ruimtelijkheid. De 3D bubbel is groter dan ooit. Wat dan opvalt is het feit dat de weergave iets verder weg staat dan gebruikelijk. Maar wat het meeste op valt is de detail weergave. Deze is echt ongekend goed. Details vallen op een plezierige manier ineens op. Kortom, deze Stahl Tek Vekian is een uitmuntende en zeer muzikale DAC, en de weergave is zondermeer super gedetailleerd en transparant, maar met een zeer zuiver analoog gevoel. Deze Stahl Tek Vekian i2s DAC verkeert in een perfecte staat en is helemaal compleet.

Description : Very unique and exclusive high end DAC from Stahl Tek 

 

Technical : The Stahl Tek Vekian is a true reference DAC. It’s built around 2 dual mono D/A Converter with Burr Brown chips in a fully balanced design. The Stahl Tek Vekian is a true multibit DAC and accepts formats from 16bit/44.1kHz to 32bit/192kHz. This version of the Stahl Tek Vekian has the extra optional i2s input. The Stahl Tek Vekian is built very stable and it’s quite heavy, mostly thanks tot the excellent power supply.  The upsampling is being done by hardware, a Stahl Tek module. Most DAC’s do their upsampling by using some form of software, but not the Stahl Tek Vekian. Stahl Tek has given a lot of thought into damping all of the components inside of the Vekian, so all the parts are free of resonance and vibrations. The Stahl Tek Vekian is a very thought out DAC with only 1 purpose : to portray the music as analogue and beautiful as possible. And they accomplished that purpose, because the Stahl Tek Vekian is one of the best sounding DAC’s we’ve ever heard.    

 

Sound : We’ve listened tot he Stahl Tek Vekian on a true reference setconsisting of Blumenhofer Gran Gioia SE, Bricasti M32 monoblocks, Bricasti M20 pre amplifier and an Antipodes K50 server/streamer. On this installation you can hear everything a certain device does and it really lets you hear the character of a device. The first thing we’ve noticed is the vast amount of space in the soundstage, it’s airy, tangible and impactful. There is a 3d image all around you. But what’s most unique about this DAC is the amount of detail and refinement, you can hear everything, but it doesn’t sound overly analytical or agressive. Acoustic instruments and drums have a nice punch and really sound like a true instrument instead of a replica. In short, this Stahl Tek Vekian is an excellent and very musical DAC, which sounds very detailled and transparent, but feels very clean and analogue sounding. This Stahl Tek Vekian looks like new and comes with the original packaging.
