Techniek : De Magico S3 MK2 is de opvolger van de Magico S3 MK1. De Magico S3 MK1 was al baanbrekend met betrekking tot de prestaties voor het formaat, en in het algemeen. Bijna niet voor te stellen dat de prestaties van een Magico S3 nog verbeterd konden worden. Toch is het Magico gelukt de prestaties nog een flink stuk verder te verbeteren. Ten eerste is er een geheel nieuwe tweeter. De Beryllium tweeter heeft een extra Diamond coating gekregen aan de binnenzijde. De zuiverheid is toegenomen, en de resonantiepieken zijn afgezwakt. De hoge tonen weergave is nu relaxter. De middentoner is bij de S3 MK2  van Graphene, een materiaal wat 10 jaar geleden nog niet eens bestond. Graphene is lichter, dichter en stijver dan nanotech, en de prestaties in het middengebied zijn er flink op vooruit gegaan. Je hoort meer dynamiek, maar ook hier weer, meer rust. Ook de woofers zijn nu van composite Graphene, en de behuizing is nog steeds gesloten. Wel is de bovenplaat nu gefreesd, aan de buizenzijde en aan de binnenzijde, dit om reflecties te verminderen en staande golven nog meer te vermijden in de kast. De binnenkant is dus hol gefreesd. Onder de S3 MK2 zit nu ook een gefreesde zware aluminium plaat voor meer stabiliteit. De Magico S3 MK2 is de grootste luidspreker met zijn uit 1 stuk aluminium vervaardigde body ter wereld.

 

Luisteren : Klankmatig blijft er met de Magico S3 MK2 eigenlijk niets te wensen over. Was de Magico S3 al de topper in zijn segment, de S3 MK2 is duidelijk beter. Nog meer openheid, zuiverheid, en dynamiek maar ook rust en muzikaliteit. Ook al draait u behoorlijk luid, de Magico S3 MK2 blijft onverstoorbaar muzikaal, neutraal, nooit hard en altijd zuiver. Wij durven te stellen dat de Magico S3 MK2 opnieuw baanbrekend is in zijn segment, en ver daar boven. Meer heeft u eigenlijk niet nodig, en zult u vermoedelijk ook nooit nodig hebben. De Magico S3 MK2 is de beste ons bekende 3 weg topluidspreker met een normaal formaat ter wereld. Deze Magico S3 MK2 staat demonstratieklaar opgesteld bij Ohm-Audio bv. Aangesloten op de Bricasti M12 / M28 / M15 versterker combinatie blijft er werkelijk niets te wensen over.

Technique : The Magico S3 MK2 is the follow up of the Magico S2 MK1. The Magico S3 MK1 already was groundbreaking with it’s stunning preformances, especially for it’s size, and also just in general. It was almost unimaginable that the preformance of the Magico S3 could be topped. And yet, Magico has succeeded to take the preformance another step higher. First thing is the new tweeter, they gave the Beryllium tweeter a diamond coating on the inside. This increased the purity of the sound and weakened the resonance peaks. The high notes now sound more relaxed and open. The midrange unit of the Magico S3 MK2 is made of composite graphene, it’s a material which didn’t even exist about 10 years ago. Graphene is lighter and more dense and stiff than Nanotech. The preformance this midrange unit has also passed the preformance of it’s predecessor. The midrange is more dynamic and detailled, but just like the high notes, it’s also more relaxed. The woofers are also made from composite Graphene, and the enclosure is still fully closed. They now machined the top side on the outside and the inside, so it’s now round at the top, and hollow on the inside. They have done this to get rid of reflections and resonances on the inside of the enclosure. On the bottom side of the loudspeaker they also mounted a massive machined aluminium plate for more stability. The Magico S3 MK2 is the largest loudspeaker in the world with a body made out of one piece of aluminum.

 

Sound : The Magico S3 MK2 doesn’t leave much more to desire. The Magico S3 MK1 already was one of the best in it’s segment, but the S3 MK2 is clearly better. It’s more open, more detailled, more dynamic but also more relaxed and musical. Even if you like to play really loud, the Magico S3 MK2 never loses it’s grip, it stays detailled and neutral. We dare to say that the Magico S3 MK2 is again groundbreaking in it’s segment, and even beyond. You don’t need more than this, probably ever. The Magico S3 MK2 is one of the best loudspeakers with a normal size in the world in our opinion.
