Technik : Der Stahl Tek Vekian ist ein echter Referenz-DAC. Er ist um 2 Dual-Mono D/A-Converter herum gebaut und vollständig in symmetrischer Ausführung aufgebaut. Der Stahl Tek Vekian ist ein echter Multibit-DAC, der Signale bis 192 kHz und 32 Bit akzeptiert. Diese Ausführung des Vekian ist die zuletzt gebaute Version mit zusätzlichem I2S-Eingang. Das Gerät ist sehr stabil und massiv gebaut, und ein großer Teil des Gewichts von 25 kg kommt von der sehr umfangreichen Stromversorgung. Die Stromversorgung ist vollständig in Klasse A konfiguriert, daher wird das Gerät bei Benutzung etwas warm. Das Upsampling erfolgt durch ein Hardware-Modul, ein eigenes Stahl-Tek-Modul. Normalerweise wird das Upsampling durch ein Stück Software in einem Chip durchgeführt. Es wurde große Sorgfalt auf die Dämpfung aller Komponenten in diesem Vekian DAC verwendet. Der Stahl Tek Vekian ist ein sehr durchdachter DA-Converter mit nur einem Ziel: die Musik so analog wie möglich wiederzugeben. Das ist vollständig gelungen, denn dieser Stahl Tek Vekian DAC ist einer der besten DACs, die wir gehört haben.

Hören : Wir haben den Stahl Tek Vekian umfassend in unserer Referenzanlage gehört, einschließlich des Bricasti M20 symmetrischen Vorverstärkers und der Bricasti M32 Monoblöcke sowie der Blumenhofer Gran Gioia SE Lautsprecher. Auf dieser Installation hören Sie wirklich alles. Das Erste, das auffällt, ist die Räumlichkeit. Die 3D-Blase ist größer als je zuvor. Was dann auffällt, ist die Tatsache, dass die Wiedergabe etwas weiter weg ist als üblich. Aber das Auffälligste ist die Detailwiedergabe. Diese ist wirklich ungewöhnlich gut. Details fallen auf angenehme Weise plötzlich auf. Kurz gesagt, dieser Stahl Tek Vekian ist ein ausgezeichneter und sehr musikalischer DAC, und die Wiedergabe ist uneingeschränkt super detailliert und transparent, aber mit einem sehr reinen analogen Gefühl. Dieser Stahl Tek Vekian i2s DAC befindet sich in einem perfekten Zustand und ist völlig vollständig.

Technical : The Stahl Tek Vekian is a true reference DAC. It's built around 2 dual mono D/A Converter with Burr Brown chips in a fully balanced design. The Stahl Tek Vekian is a true multibit DAC and accepts formats from 16bit/44.1kHz to 32bit/192kHz. This version of the Stahl Tek Vekian has the extra optional i2s input. The Stahl Tek Vekian is built very stable and it's quite heavy, mostly thanks tot the excellent power supply. The upsampling is being done by hardware, a Stahl Tek module. Most DAC's do their upsampling by using some form of software, but not the Stahl Tek Vekian. Stahl Tek has given a lot of thought into damping all of the components inside of the Vekian, so all the parts are free of resonance and vibrations. The Stahl Tek Vekian is a very thought out DAC with only 1 purpose : to portray the music as analogue and beautiful as possible. And they accomplished that purpose, because the Stahl Tek Vekian is one of the best sounding DAC's we've ever heard.

Sound : We've listened tot he Stahl Tek Vekian on a true reference setconsisting of Blumenhofer Gran Gioia SE, Bricasti M32 monoblocks, Bricasti M20 pre amplifier and an Antipodes K50 server/streamer. On this installation you can hear everything a certain device does and it really lets you hear the character of a device. The first thing we've noticed is the vast amount of space in the soundstage, it's airy, tangible and impactful. There is a 3d image all around you. But what's most unique about this DAC is the amount of detail and refinement, you can hear everything, but it doesn't sound overly analytical or agressive. Acoustic instruments and drums have a nice punch and really sound like a true instrument instead of a replica. In short, this Stahl Tek Vekian is an excellent and very musical DAC, which sounds very detailled and transparent, but feels very clean and analogue sounding. This Stahl Tek Vekian looks like new and comes with the original packaging.
