General: Beautiful integrated Class A/B amplifier from Serblin & Son. For many, the name Serblin will ring a bell, thinking of Sonus Faber. This amplifier was indeed developed by Fabio Serblin, the nephew of Franco Serblin, the founder of Sonus Faber. The name is certainly upheld with the release of this magnificent amplifier line.

Technology: The Frankie is a Class A/B amplifier with 75 Watts at 8 Ohm and 110 Watts at 4 Ohm. More than enough to drive most speakers. The chassis feels very solid and consists of solid aluminum top and bottom plates with wooden side panels. Available in both black and walnut. The minimalist front panel complements this sleek design nicely. The Frankie features only two rotary knobs for volume and input selection, with LEDs indicating the selected input. The Frankie uses an analog volume control that employs a series of 127 individual resistors, a technique that has proven itself superior to the commonly known potentiometer. This ensures unprecedented sound reproduction and longevity. Not bad for an amplifier in this price range. What also stands out about the Frankie are the phono inputs that accommodate both MM and MC cartridges. Both inputs are adjustable via switches on the back, so you can work with virtually any element.

Sound: Like a Sonus Faber speaker, the Frankie is a pleasure to listen to. A beautiful, warm sound with round bass and velvety midrange. Yet it certainly doesn't lack dynamics and control. Complex passages are easy to follow and rhythmically well-organized. Overall, a fine amplifier you can listen to for hours on end.

PLUS: The Serblin & Son Frankie is also available as the Frankie PLUS for an additional price of only € 250. What you get in return is a streaming module with High Resolution D/A Converter with SPDIF Coax RCA and a Toslink Optical input. The streamer can be controlled via Spotify Connect or Tidal Connect, and you can also listen to internet radio or use it as a DLNA player, allowing you to play music files with Audirvana. It is also possible to play via Bluetooth or Airplay.
