Aavik Acoustics is a Danish high-end electronics manufacturer that falls under the umbrella company Audio Group Denmark, as do Ansuz Acoustics and Boressen Acoustics and Axxess.
The owner and Tech Wizard is Michael Børessen, the super-enthusiastic and energetic chief engineer of all four brands. Aavik Acoustics manufactures brilliant products, and the entire new line is of outstanding quality and sonic performance.

The first thing that stands out about the new 2025 models from Aavik Acoustics is their beautiful enclosures. Billet aluminum? No, solid copper, combined with HDF composite and stainless steel. The design of the current Aavik Acoustics equipment comes from designer, artist and founder of Gryphon Audio, Flemming Rasmussen. Aavik Acoustics no longer uses conventional materials such as aluminum for very clear and excellent reasons—sound quality. Audio Group Denmark is moving away from aluminum in both Aavik, Ansuz, Borresen and Axxess equipment and cabling/accessories. Audio Group Denmark, under which Aavik Acoustics operates, has spent thousands of hours experimenting with enclosures. Enclosures have everything to do with vibrations and resistance to, or conversely, susceptibility to magnetic influences.
Furthermore, the techniques of Ansuz Acoustics, the Tesla Coils, Dither Circuitry and Anti Aerial Resonance Coils are integrated into all Aavik Acoustics equipment to reduce the noise floor.
The amplifier technology used is also exceptional. Aavik Acoustics manufactures class D amplifiers (X88 series) and pure class A amplifiers (880 Series), but they do not use the conventional Triangle Modulation for their class D amplifiers. Instead, Aavik Acoustics employs a less common Sinus Wave Modulation. Additionally, the power supplies are not standard switched mode PSUs but resonant mode PSUs which generate significantly less noise. This advanced technology avoids the typical digital character found in many class D amplifiers. The amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics therefore sound completely analog. The flagship Aavik 880-series stands apart from the class D amplifiers; the 880-series are efficient class A amplifiers and rank among the best sounding amplifiers in the world.
Aavik Acoustics' new generation of D/A conversion has also been designed and built from the ground up. Aavik Acoustics no longer uses typical DAC chips; instead, an advanced CPU circuit converts all incoming signals to an ultra-high DSD512 resolution, then converts it back to analog using a simple analog filter. The advantage of this approach is that you no longer have a switching DAC, and virtually no noise is generated. The sound of the new DACs in the Aavik U-X88, SD-X88 and SD-880 series is more analog, more refined and more detailed than the already excellent previous generation Aavik DACs with Burr Brown DAC chips.
First, we can speak about the 188/288/588 Series amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics because they form an important part of the Aavik DNA. They manufacture different types of amplifiers, namely integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers and also all-in-one streaming amplifiers. The new generation is built more premium; the prices of Aavik electronics start at €15,000.00 for certain 188 models and go up to the most expensive U-588 at €30,000.00. All amplifiers contain the same output amplifier as standard. Except for the new 880 series which has a completely newly designed Class A amplification. The 188-288-588 series all have the same power output as well. 2 x 300 Watts at 8 Ohm and 2 x 600 Watts at 4 Ohm. The output amplifier is a latest generation Pascal Class D amplifier, based on sine waves instead of sawtooth waves, and its sonic qualities can compete with the best amplifiers, even Zero Feedback, Single Ended, Class A tube amplifiers. Yes, we didn't expect that either. The output amplifier is therefore only marginally responsible for the musical end result; the most important thing is the amplifier you build around it and making the noise floor as low as possible. The most affordable integrated amplifier from Aavik Acoustics is currently the I-188. This amplifier outperforms many enormous monoblocks and other 50kg heavy amplifiers—quite remarkable. The sound is so beautiful, refined, calm, controlled yet sophisticated, and you can listen to it for evenings on end, but you can also play extremely loud on practically every speaker on the market. The more expensive amplifiers, for example the I-280 or I-588, have the same output amplifier as the I-188, yet they sound even better. The difference lies in the amount of noise cancelling technology applied. The more expensive series have, for example, many more Active and Passive Tesla Coils and Anti Aerial Resonance Coils built in, and more Analog Dither Circuitry. These technologies serve to lower the noise floor so that the recording unfolds even more, and 'edges' are removed from the sound making it more natural and details easier to perceive. And in short, the playback becomes simply much more musical!
For people who find the sound of Aavik Acoustics amplifiers beautiful but find the price too steep, there is as an alternative the Forté amplifiers from Axxess. These come from the same factory and are made by the same designers with the same attention to detail. You could view the Axxess Forté amplifiers as a kind of little brother to the Aavik U-X88 amplifiers.
We are thus pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the Aavik amplifiers. They are compact, resonance-free, enormously powerful and stable, and have a brilliant design, and the sound quality is phenomenal.
Now Aavik has recently announced their absolute top models. The 880 series consisting of the I-880, the C-880, the P-880 and the R-880. These are large and heavy machines with an enclosure of even thicker solid copper plates and additionally titanium plates instead of stainless steel in the enclosure, which are set entirely in Class A operation. So different technology than the 188-288-588 series. They are phenomenal and groundbreaking amplifiers, but unfortunately the flagship 880 series is firmly priced. Unique technology and sound but unfortunately not accessible to everyone.
