General: The Børresen X1 is the latest and most affordable monitor speaker from the Danish high-end brand Børresen Acoustics. The X-series from Børresen Acoustics sets new standards in sound quality and musicality in its price class. The Børresen X1 is an innovative 2-way monitor speaker with a tall, narrow and stylish cabinet. The X-series from Børresen Acoustics is the most affordable line of Børresen Acoustics, more affordable than the pricier 0-series and Z-series, yet there is no compromise on quality. And you hear that immediately.

Technology: The Børresen X1 features a very thoughtful design. The black baffle is made of MDF and features a clean, screw-less design with carbon accents. The cabinet is lute-shaped, slim and deep. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured by Børresen in-house. The drivers and tweeter used are unique. The diaphragm planar tweeter is made from a special film and has a moving mass of only 0.01 grams, with a fast and super powerful Neodymium magnet drive. Below the tweeter you'll find a 4.5" driver that handles the midrange and bass response. This driver consists of 3 different layers pressed tightly together. The 3 layers consist of 2 layers of spread carbon, with a layer of aramid in honeycomb design in the middle for reinforcement. Through the use of these materials and their rigid compression together, the driver in the Børresen X1 is extremely light and extremely stiff and free of resonances. Combined with the powerful Neodymium magnet drive, this results in extremely fast acceleration of the moving units, which in turn results in more realistic and refined reproduction. The materials used, such as copper caps around the pole pieces in the magnet system, provide extremely low self-inductance which prevents distortion and resonance from occurring. The Børresen X1 is an open system with 3 ports tuned for musically relevant frequencies. The tweeter has its own compartment with a vent port in the cabinet, preventing the tweeter from being affected by the pressure generated by the woofers and midrange driver. The cabinet itself is made of a natural wood composite material and reinforced with carbon fiber inserts. The total weight is 12.9 kg per speaker.

Stands: The Borresen stands for the X-series are built very solidly and beautifully finished. The stands are made from a natural composite material for the best acoustic properties. The pillar is very massive and under the base plate you'll find Darkz Feet so that Ansuz Darkz or Axxess Noir can be placed underneath for optimal isolation and best sound quality. The stands weigh 10.8 kg per piece, so together with the speakers the total weight is 23.7 kg per speaker & stand.

Listening: The Børresen X1 sounds like no other speaker in its price class. So controlled, so spacious and so refined and free of resonance, at any volume. It's immediately clear that we're dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very accurate and realistic, yet at the same time there's an enormous sense of calm over everything. You immediately find yourself in the space where the performers are, whether it's a small studio, a large hall or even a stadium. The Børresen X1 captures the atmosphere with great precision. The bass response is also remarkable for a speaker of this size—the bass is not only deep and powerful but also very controlled and in harmony with the rest of the music. The Børresen X1 can play quite loud, and even at the highest volumes the sound image remains stable and pleasant to listen to. Of course, you can also enjoy the Børresen X1 at low volumes. Because of the very low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter & drivers, even with quiet music at room volume you'll hear every detail and see a spatial image. The Børresen X1 is a speaker you'll probably never want to be without. Unless the Z-series or 0-series from Børresen Acoustics come within reach. Quite simply, everything is there: dynamics, speed, rhythm, spatiality and especially calm. What more could one ask for?
