Overview: The Børresen X2 is the latest and most affordable floor-standing speaker from the Danish High End brand Børresen Acoustics. The X-series from Børresen Acoustics sets new standards in sound quality and musicality in its price class. The Børresen X2 is an innovative 2.5-way floor-standing speaker with a tall, narrow and stylish enclosure. The X-series from Børresen Acoustics is the most affordable line from Børresen Acoustics, more affordable than the higher-end 0-series and Z-series, yet quality has not been compromised. And you hear that immediately.

Technology: The Børresen X2 features a very well-thought-out design. The black baffle is made of HDF and features a clean, screw-free design with carbon accents. The enclosure is lute-shaped, slender and deep. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured by Børresen in-house. The drivers and tweeter used are unique. The dipole planar ribbon tweeter is made from a special type of foil and has a moving mass of only 0.01 grams, driven by a fast and super powerful Neodymium magnet. Below the tweeter you will find two 4.5" drivers of the same format, the upper one of the two is the midrange driver, which is not filtered downward, which is why the Børresen X2 is a 2.5-way instead of a 3-way speaker. Børresen Acoustics does this so that the transition from the midrange to the bass flows smoothly without a crossover point. These 2 drivers consist of 3 different layers which are pressed very rigidly together. The 3 layers consist of 2 layers of spread carbon, with a layer of aramide in honeycomb design in the middle for reinforcement. Through the use of these materials and their rigid compression, the drivers in the Børresen X2 are extremely light and extremely rigid and free of resonances. Combined with the powerful Neodymium magnet drive, this provides extremely fast acceleration of the moving units, which in turn results in more realistic and refined reproduction. The materials used provide extremely low self-inductance, which in turn ensures that little distortion or resonance occurs. The Børresen X2 is an open system with 6 ports tuned for musically relevant frequencies. The tweeter has its own compartment with a ventilation port in the cabinet, so the tweeter is not affected by the pressure generated by the woofers and midrange driver. The enclosure itself is made of a natural wood composite material and reinforced with carbon fiber inserts. The total weight is 36.4 kg per speaker.

Listening: The Børresen X2 sounds like no other speaker in its price class. So controlled, so spatial and so refined and free of resonance, at any volume. Immediately it is clear that we are dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there is an enormous sense of calm throughout. You immediately find yourself in the space where the performers are, whether it's a small studio or a large hall or even a stadium. The Børresen X2 knows how to convey the atmosphere with great precision. Also remarkable is the bass reproduction for a speaker of this size; the bass is not only deep and powerful but also very controlled and in harmony with the rest of the music. The Børresen X2 can play quite loud, and even at the highest volumes the sound remains stable and not unpleasant to listen to. Besides high volumes, you can of course also handle low volumes very well with the Børresen X2. Due to the very low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter and drivers, you can hear every detail clearly and see a spatial image even with quiet music at room volume. The Børresen X2 is a speaker you probably never want to part with. Unless the Z-series or 0-series from Børresen Acoustics comes within reach. Simply everything is present: dynamics, speed, rhythm, spatiality and above all tranquility. What more could one want?
