General: The Sonus Faber Concertino G4 is the newest generation of the Concertino series from Sonus Faber. The Concertino G4 has replaced the Minima Amator 2.

Technology: The Sonus Faber Concertino G4, like all Sonus Faber speakers, makes use of natural materials. The enclosure is made of solid walnut and is finished with plant-based leather. A very pleasant appearance to the eye. But what is particularly new about the Concertino G4 is that the inside is made of cork. This cork interior reduces resonances inside the enclosure and requires less use of damping material such as wool. Cork is also used in the new Sonetto G2 series and the flagship model, the Suprema, due to its acoustically very musical properties. The midwoofer is a 5" long-throw woofer with a paper pulp membrane; the tweeter is a 1" silk dome D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter. The filter is simple and effective and uses high-quality components. The design goal of the Concertino G4 is quality, simplicity, and musicality, and Sonus Faber has succeeded with flying colors.

Stands: The optional Iron Stands are optimally suited for the Concertino G4, both in terms of looks and functionality. The Iron Stands, as the name suggests, are mostly made of iron. This makes the stands quite heavy, which provides good stability. The stands are finished with the same walnut used for the speakers, which ensures the look matches the speakers perfectly. The Concertino G4 sits on 4 small rubber feet at the corners for those who want to use different stands or place the speakers on a TV cabinet or dresser. The top plate of the Iron Stand has holes at the corners where the rubber feet under the speaker fit in when you place the speaker on the stand, so the speaker cannot slide off the stand.

Listening: The Sonus Faber Concertino G4 has a very clean and musical sound. For its size, it sounds considerably larger than it actually is. What you hear clearly reflected is Sonus Faber's vision of creating a simple design. This is certainly not a negative thing, as the rule often goes: the simpler the design, the better the sound. The Sonus Faber Concertino G4 sounds open, tight, lively, and dynamic, but in a friendly and effortless manner. The Concertino G4 sounds less colored than the Minima Amator II it replaces in the Sonus Faber lineup. With the Sonus Faber Concertino G4, you get a magnificent, compact, and very musical speaker that you can enjoy for practically a lifetime.
