General: Handcrafted compact and stylish high-end 2-way standmount speaker from the renowned Italian speaker brand Sonus Faber.

Technical: The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 1 is the successor and improved version of the Olympica 1, and it is a beautifully built compact monitor speaker with a very mature sound. The cabinet shape is particularly special in itself. Not only the classic speaker form, but also an asymmetrical enclosure without parallel walls. The cabinet itself is an 8-layer construction of curved birch plywood and HDF, very sturdy and thanks to the sandwich construction the resonance behavior is very favorable for music reproduction. For color there is a choice of a beautiful dark wood Wenge veneer finish or a natural Walnut wood veneer finish, and the Olympica Nova 1 can also be delivered in a high-gloss black finish. The Sonus Faber Nova 1 has no traditional bass reflex port; the port on the back is a slot that runs the full height of the speaker. This method of venting the cabinet ensures better dispersed dispersion and less pressure, which allows the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 1 to be placed closer to the rear wall. The new 29mm Sonus Faber Arrowpoint silk dome tweeter is excellent, it is driven by a neodymium magnet and guarantees fast and pure treble reproduction. The 150mm bass/midriver is also outstanding. The cone itself is made from a mix of natural materials, wood, paper, kenaf and other fibers. The crossover is high quality and the Bi-Wire connection is made of Sonus Faber's own connectors for spades and/or banana plugs.

Listening: Although the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 1 is compact, it is very remarkable what a complete and mature reproduction comes from these stylish little speakers. The bass reproduction is also tight, firm and musical. The earlier Sonus Faber models often had a very warm sound. The friendliness in the sense of warmth has been preserved in the newer models, but the Olympica Nova 1 simply plays more easily, tighter and more open. The sound is warm, but without wooliness and also not dark at all. The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 1 places the performers far into the room, which creates enormous involvement with the music. The beauty of a compact high-quality 2-way speaker is the excellent imaging. The soundstage is simply correct, the timing is excellent and everything in the room is perfectly placed.
