Technology: The Analysis Audio Omega is the larger sibling of the Omicron and Epsilon, and sits just below the flagship model the Amphitryon. The Omega has been completely redesigned and now features a Single Wiring connection and the switchable filter has been slightly modified. The Omega now sounds much more open and fresher than before. Like all other Analysis Audio speakers, the Omega is a 2 way speaker with an extremely low crossover point for the tweeter. Starting from 650 Hz, the super-fast ribbon midrange/tweeter takes over from the ribbon woofer/midrange unit. Therefore, there is no filtering in the critical area around 2500 Hertz, which is typical for a 2 way speaker. The filter itself is a 6dB filter, with minimal components and minimal phase shifts in the transition range. The impedance of the Omega is around 5 ohms and is very flat, making it a simple load for the amplifier used. The tweeter itself is a true masterpiece. It is a 155cm long and almost 4cm wide pure ribbon, encased in Kapton. Ribbons are known to sound super-fast, transparent and uncolored, and this ribbon midrange/tweeter of the Omega is among the best we have ever heard. With normal dome tweeters, the dome is driven at the dome wall, and all forces spread through the diaphragm. This is not the case with the Omega ribbon. The diaphragm is driven over its entire surface. This is also the case with the bass/midrange panel. Normal woofers and midrange drivers are strongly driven in the middle, which creates stress in the cones. Not so with Analysis Audio. In fact, both membranes of all Analysis Audio speakers are the voice coil itself, so no cones or domes are driven at all. The woofer panel itself is also a ribbon, but the panel is trapezoidal here. This is special and it avoids resonances and standing waves in the foil. What is even more special is that the woofer/midrange ribbon is not pulled tight in the frame, but is suspended on a kind of rubber rim. This allows the panel to move very freely, and this also allows the Omega to reproduce particularly deep bass. The Omega is quite a substantial speaker, measuring 168cm high, 61cm wide, and 6cm deep. The sensitivity is certainly adequate at 86dB, and the Omega performs sublimely with amplifiers from around 2 x 50 Watts. The maximum power handling of the Omega is 250 watts, so the Omega can play quite loud, although you can also enjoy the complete music reproduction at lower volumes. The Analysis Audio Omega is a substantial speaker and it sounds truly fantastic.

Listening: The Analysis Audio Omega is clearly a larger sibling of the Omicron and Epsilon. The Omega essentially sounds the same, but plays notably deeper and more powerfully in the bass, the soundstage is also larger and the Omega can clearly play louder, and generally plays loud more easily. Fresh out of the box, the new Omega already sounds great, but it is clear that these ribbon speakers need some time to break in, like any other high-end speaker. After 100 hours of play, the Omega is already fully loosened up. The Omegas play particularly airy and 3D, and what immediately stands out is the beautiful deep bass and the very fine dynamic reproduction. You hear things on these speakers that you haven't heard before. The Omega is a dipole speaker and therefore must be placed at least 80cm from the rear wall when listened to seriously. When listening to Analysis Audio speakers, you notice that they are cabinet-less designs. Cabinet resonances are completely absent and this provides a very fine and soothing sound, with nothing that disturbs. All that remains is the perfect and pure musical presentation, and that is very special to hear.
