General: The Sonus Faber Electa Amator III is a 35 Year Anniversary product of Sonus Faber.

Technical: The Sonus Faber Electa Amator 1 was a groundbreaking excellent loudspeaker in 1987. A compact ultra-high-quality monitor loudspeaker with surprisingly deep and high-quality bass reproduction. The Electa Amator 1 sounded, and sounds like a mature floor-standing speaker. In 1997, the Electa Amator 2 was introduced. The Electa Amator 2 was different, but not seriously better. Nevertheless very good. This Electa Amator 2 featured a smaller tweeter, no longer the Dynaudio Esotar, and a passive radiator, and was and is very good. Now in 2018, Sonus Faber launches the Electa Amator III on the market. The Electa Amator III had to and would become a clearly better speaker than the earlier series, and Sonus Faber has accomplished this with the help of the latest materials and proprietary units and filter technology. The enclosure is again made of solid walnut strips of wood, which are blended together by means of a copper plate to a Carrara marble base plate. The stands are black aluminum columns filled with damping particles, which are again attached to the marble base by means of a copper plate. The drivers are the best drivers currently built by Sonus Faber. A 180mm paper/composite woofer/midrange with a neodymium magnet, and the renowned 28mm tweeter, with a DAD damper and a solid wooden resonance chamber. The sensitivity is significantly higher than that of the original Electa Amators, and acoustically, the new Electa Amator III has also made an enormous leap.

Listening: We hoped that the Sonus Faber Electa Amator III would retain some of the qualities of the original 2, and we are not disappointed. This speaker truly sounds musical. The Sonus Faber Electa Amator III sounds immediately calm, grand, and captivating. It is clearly audible how this Sonus Faber Electa Amator III simply sounds better than the original versions, while retaining the charm. The treble, for example, is silky smooth, but also super transparent and with an extreme amount of detail. The bass is full, warm, and simply very beautiful. Not the super tight quality of, for example, the Sonus Faber Guarneri Tradition, or a Magico S1 mk2, but a fuller reproduction. It is truly unbelievable how quickly you enjoy the music when listening to this new Sonus Faber Electa Amator III. This set is now permanently available at Ohm-Audio bv for a musical demo. The Electa Amator 3 should not be seen as a beautiful anniversary product. It is truly a very good speaker that makes music unbelievably well. This Sonus Faber Electa Amator III loudspeaker set is new and is ready for many years of musical enjoyment in your home.
