General: The Atacama Apollo Storm 6 is a stylish and sleek hifi rack for audio and video equipment. The rack is finished to a high standard with solid oak shelves, available in a light oak finish, dark oak finish, or black finish. These shelves are supported by sturdy hollow steel tubes, available in black or white. Because the tubes are hollow, you have the option to fill them to eliminate resonances. We sell Norstone Metal Beads or Atacama Atabites for this purpose, which are specially developed filling materials with excellent resonance properties for optimal audio performance. As a more economical solution, you can of course simply fill the tubes with sand or gravel. Each module stands on 4 tubes which have sharp spikes on the bottom, each shelf in turn has 4 dimples in the corners where the spikes from the shelf above can be placed. The end result is a solid and stable structure. Because it is an open rack on all sides, you can easily access the back of the rack for cable connections, and as an added benefit, everything ventilates well compared to a closed cabinet, so any heat from equipment is easily dispersed.
