General : Excellently built and very analog sounding digital amplifier from Aavik Acoustics from Denmark. The Aavik I-580 is the flagship model of the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The Aavik I-580 is the model above the I-180 and the I-280 from Aavik Acoustics.

Technology : The very advanced technology in the Aavik amplifiers is unique. Aavik Acoustics manufactures digital amplifiers with an analog heart. The waveform is modulated with a sine wave, and this provides for a much finer reproduction than triangle modulation. The damping is high and the control over the speakers is optimal. The power supply is very generously dimensioned and always calculated for the task. Also an important aspect is the natural enclosure. The enclosure of the Aavik I-580 is the most unique of all models in the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The enclosure itself is made of a natural composite material, so no hard and cold aluminum. On the top you'll find a beautiful titanium cross which, besides looking good, also controls the resonance of the cabinet which results in a more natural and somewhat refined sound than the models without the titanium cross integrated in the top plate. What sets the Aavik I-580 above the other models in the I-Series is that the inside of the I-580 is made of solid copper, this reduces hysteresis to an absolute minimum amount, this ensures that sonically the music has more energy, power and liveliness. Aavik Acoustics has put much effort into the resonance-free nature of the enclosure, and that translates directly into sound quality. The Aavik I-580 has a very generously dimmable display on the front which is easy to read from the listening position and a very fine volume control. Everything has been considered. Under the Aavik I-580 you can optionally place Darkz Resonance Control resonance dampers from Ansuz Acoustics if you don't have an anti-resonance Hi-Fi cabinet. If you have multiple Aavik Acoustics devices, they can be stacked using ceramic or titanium balls on which an Ansuz Acoustics Darkz Resonator can then be placed. This way multiple devices take up minimal space without affecting each other through vibrations. The technical construction is very advanced and makes use of various techniques from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. The Aavik I-580 features extensive Noise Reduction, the most extensive Noise Reduction of all models in the I-Series. The Aavik I-580 has no fewer than 72 Active Tesla Coils and 240 Active Square Tesla Coils. These Tesla Coils remove various electromagnetic radiation from the air and inside the enclosure and ensure a clean and undistorted music signal inside the amplifier. There are also 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils in the Aavik I-580. The digital electronics feature no fewer than 11 Dither circuits. Power consumption is very favorable. The Aavik I-580 consumes only 0.5 watts in standby, and in music mode the consumption is 50 watts Idle. Technically, the amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are the cream of the crop among digital amplifiers, and not just that. They are, in our opinion, the first class D amplifiers with a 100% analog character without a trace of harshness and where even after long listening sessions no listener fatigue is induced.

Sound : What we're used to from class D amplifiers is a tight dynamics and a neutral and rhythmic sound. Yet there's often something missing, something that not only says : "wow, that sounds impressive", but also something that invites you to keep listening. At some point after getting used to a certain sound, the "wow factor" disappears, what must remain is music, because that's what it's all about. The amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are so far the first class D amplifiers where we have the feeling that we're not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but is also very musical and delivers a fascinating, intriguing and above all beautiful sound. The Aavik I-580 sounds first and foremost really nice. Relaxed, spacious, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space where the performers play is very clearly audible and the atmosphere is well translated to the listener. The Aavik I-580 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets you hear everything, but there's also a certain sense of calm & comfort over the sound. So the sound is perfectly balanced and the overall picture simply works right. In terms of dynamics, the Aavik I-580 may well go further than most class A (tube) amplifiers, but that's not ultimately what it's only about. It's about sound quality, and to what extent an amplifier is able to convey emotions. And conveying emotions is where the Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik I-580 is pure emotion. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik Acoustics range and the Aavik I-580 is by far the most premium member of the family.
