General : Borresen Acoustics produces multiple loudspeaker series, with the excellent affordable X-series, above that the high-quality C-series, and above that sits the high-end T-series. But the M-series, that is the flagship reference series of loudspeakers from Borresen Acoustics. The M-series loudspeakers rank among the very best on the loudspeaker market. The Borresen M6 was the largest model in the M-series before the arrival of the M8. It remains the largest model in the M-series that features a slender design without dipole bass woofers.

Technology : The Borresen M6 is technologically one of the most exotic loudspeakers on the market. The applied techniques and materials are like no other loudspeaker manufacturer does it. Most large loudspeaker manufacturers buy in loudspeaker units, but Borresen makes their own drivers. The enclosure is made of a natural composite material, internally reinforced. There are as many as 5 compartments in the Borresen M6 enclosure. 1 for the two bass woofers in the upper half of the enclosure, 1 for the midrange driver above the tweeter, 1 for the tweeter, 1 for the midrange driver below the tweeter, and 1 for the two bass woofers in the lower half of the enclosure. All drivers and tweeters are thus isolated from each other. The compartment of the in-house made Borresen RP94 ribbon tweeter, like the other compartments in the M6, is open at the back, allowing the tweeter to see open space both in front and behind, resulting in more linear reproduction compared to a tweeter in a sealed compartment in the enclosure. Both above and below the tweeter is a midrange driver, in D'Appolito configuration. The compartments of the midrange drivers are vented through a semi-damped port in the form of a long slot. Behind this slot are mounted brackets that provide air dispersion. The midrange drivers in the Borresen M6 are not filtered downward, so they participate in the bass reproduction for a smooth transition between the bass and midrange, which is why the Borresen M6 is a 2.5-way system rather than a 3-way system. The 4 bass woofers are arranged in pairs at the very top and bottom of the enclosure. The bass woofers are also vented through an elongated port with dispersion brackets on the rear of the loudspeaker. This port is also not damped with airy foam like the port of the midrange driver compartments.

The 6 drivers used in the M6 are Borresen IronFree 5 Zirconium SSE mid/bass drivers, this driver is unique in the world. First, there is the basket, which is an asymmetrical 3D printed basket of solid Zirconium. This basket ensures optimal stability and airflow for the mid/bass driver. Manufacturing just one such basket costs thousands of dollars in production costs. The magnets used are the most powerful neodymium magnets on the market, and no iron is used in the magnet system. Additionally, an in-house fabricated pure silver pole ring is applied in the magnet system for the lowest possible inductance. The diaphragm of the drivers in the Borresen M6 is made of 2 layers of spread tow carbon with a layer of aramide (better known as kevlar) in honeycomb design in between. These 3 layers are pressed firmly together and fixed with a small amount of epoxy. But the M-series have an additional layer on the cone, namely a thin titanium layer with a very fine and special coating layer, namely a coating layer that Audio Group Denmark calls 'Supreme Coating'. This Supreme Coating is made of a base layer of zirconium, with a layer of tungsten on top and a layer of aluminum chromium nitride on top of that. This coating is applied to the titanium in a Hi-PIMS (High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering) machine. All this effort and exotic materials are for good reason; the result is one of the most unique, stable, distortion-free, and musical drivers on the market. The Borresen RP94 ribbon tweeter is also unique and only found in Borresen Acoustics loudspeakers. This tweeter is also made in-house. The diaphragm of this tweeter weighs only a minuscule 0.01 grams, yet it is a strong material that can withstand a light impact. Because the moving mass of this tweeter is so low, no energy can be stored in it, resulting in completely distortion-free reproduction.

The internal wiring is completely Ansuz Acoustics D-TC3 Gold Signature wiring. This wiring consists of a copper core that is subsequently silver-plated and then even gold-plated, providing unique, clean, and extremely musical sound. The loudspeaker terminals accept only banana plugs. Below the loudspeaker terminals there is also a 14 Volt BNC input. This last input is to power the active noise cancelling Tesla Coil techniques from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics used in the Borresen M6. Two adapters are supplied with a set of M6, but you can also choose to power this 14 Volt connection from an Ansuz Acoustics PowerBox model for the best results.

Decoupling : The base plate is a stylish sandwich solution of 2 layers of solid titanium with a layer of compact laminate in between. On top of that sits a slanted piece of composite material on which the enclosure rests. This base, consisting of multiple layers, ensures optimal resonance behavior of the entire enclosure, resulting in less stress in the sound. For extra resonance control, 8 pieces of Ansuz Darkz Z3W decouplers are supplied with a set of Borresen M6. The Darkz Z3W are decouplers with solid zirconium discs that have been surface-treated with a very fine layer of zirconium and hafnium, just like the coating layer on the Borresen M6 driver membranes, applied by a Hi-PIMS machine. Between these zirconium discs are tungsten balls that provide the decoupling. These Ansuz Darkz Z3W with a retail value of € 28.800,- for 8 pieces should be placed under the feet of the base plate. The feet under the base plate are adjustable in height to level the loudspeakers.

All in all, the Borresen M6 is one of the most exclusive and unique loudspeakers on the high-end audio market.

Listening : Listening to a Borresen loudspeaker system is always a pleasure. You consistently hear solid and deep bass reproduction, and extremely low distortion. The sound also comes completely free from the speakers. You can position the Borresen loudspeakers very wide apart, and that often yields beautiful results. The midrange is still completely filled. The Borresen M6 takes it one step further; what you hear here is practically pure magic. Everything plays with such ease, and it sounds so honest, free, and transparent that you almost don't realize you're listening to loudspeakers. The Borresen M6 sets new standards in loudspeaker design and sound; it is an exceptionally distinctive sounding system. The Borresen M6 can be placed in many rooms, provided some attention is paid and there is some space around the loudspeakers. But even in a listening room of 100 m² the M6 can easily fill the entire room. The Borresen M6 sounds grand, honest, and tight. Voices and instruments sound truly live. The Borresen M6, with its somewhat larger and particularly taller enclosure, also has a much larger and taller 3D soundstage than its smaller siblings, the Borresen M2 and M3. The M6 also plays more easily and deeper in the bass due to its larger number of bass woofers than the smaller models in the M-series. There is one model above the Borresen M6, namely the statement model, the Børresen M8 Gold Signature. The M8 Gold Signature costs one million euros per pair and is completely differently constructed than the slender and stylish M6. For a loudspeaker with such a slender enclosure, there is nothing but respect for how complete, large, and powerful the overall musical reproduction of the Borresen M6 is compared to other reference loudspeakers. Sublime.

Unfortunately, we do not have the Borresen Acoustics M6 in stock, but one of the smaller siblings of the M6, namely the Borresen M2. These can be listened to by appointment. The Borresen M3 is available on order; please ask for delivery time.
