General: The Borresen T3 is the latest floor-standing speaker from Audio Group Denmark, and is the successor to the Borresen 02 and 03. The Borresen T3 is improved in many respects compared to its predecessor and features the most modern technology available today.

Cabinet: The Borresen T3 cabinet is larger and heavier than those of the 02 and 03, combined with the new Borresen IronFree5 drivers, it delivers a more solid and fuller bass reproduction. The cabinet is internally reinforced with one-piece milled hardwood braces paired with carbon fiber reinforcements, making the cabinet many times stiffer than its predecessor. The internal air flow has also been improved. On the outside of the cabinet, you'll find 3 slots on the sides lined with carbon fiber. These slots and carbon fiber are not only for aesthetics; they also contribute to the overall rigidity of the cabinet and improved resonance response. There are bass reflex ports on the rear as well as a port for venting the ribbon tweeter. Some distance from the rear wall is therefore desirable, although the Borresen T3 can be placed much closer to the wall than you might expect. For optimal sound quality, in our view a minimum distance of 50cm from the rear wall is recommended. The Borresen T3 is available in a stunning high-gloss walnut finish, but also in a clean high-gloss black finish. On the rear are speaker terminals for banana plugs. The Borresen T3 has BiWire connections, making Bi-Amping possible for even better performance. High-quality Ansuz BiWire splitters are supplied for people with single-wire cables and one amplifier; like the T3 itself, these splitters only accept banana plugs. Additionally, below the speaker inputs there is a BNC input for the included 14-volt adapters or to be powered by an Ansuz PowerBox. This 14-volt connection powers the latest-generation Ansuz active noise cancelling technology integrated into the Borresen T3.

T3 Cryo and T3 Silver Supreme Edition (SSE): The Borresen T3 is available as T3 Cryo or T3 SSE. The differences between the two speakers are significant; the T3 Cryo is more competitively priced, but the T3 SSE is considerably better than the Cryo version. In both versions of the T3, all metal parts including the magnet system, baskets, internal wiring, crossover coils, and tweeter are cryogenically treated. Borresen Acoustics performs the cryogenic treatment of metal parts in-house using their own method. The cryogenic treatment of metal parts is a process that takes a total of 3 days. During the first 24 hours, the metal parts are cooled to cryogenic temperatures. For the following 24 hours, the temperature is maintained constantly around -196°C. During the following 24 hours, the temperature of the metal parts is gradually brought back to room temperature. This cryogenic treatment strengthens the metals and relieves stress, while improving the conductive properties of the metals in the conductors and coils. However, in addition to cryogenic treatment, the T3 SSE version also features a completely different midrange driver. The T3 SSE features the IronFree5 Titanium SSE driver. This not only has the in-house manufactured pure silver pole ring in the magnet system, as was also the case with SSE versions of the 0-series. The T3 SSE also has a special 3D printed basket of solid titanium in which the woofer is suspended. This basket is based on the zirconium basket found in Borresen Acoustics' M-series speakers. The result of the silver pole ring in the magnet system is better conductivity and less resistance/inductance, and the result of the titanium basket is improved stability and fewer resonances in the woofer. The Borresen T3 SSE sounds more powerful, more transparent, more detailed, and simply more complete than the already excellent T3 Cryo. Both versions share the same DNA; the SSE version simply takes it a step further, but you pay for that, of course.

Drivers: The diaphragm of the midrange and bass woofers has also been improved compared to the diaphragm used in the 0-series. The diaphragm in the T-series drivers consists of 2 layers of spread tow carbon with a layer of aramid in honeycomb design between them. The carbon layers and the aramid honeycomb layer are pressed rigidly together for very high stiffness. These layers are bonded with a small amount of epoxy resin mixed with graphene and boron particles for optimal stiffness and unique sound. These diaphragms are very light but extremely strong and essentially cannot deform. The voice coil of the T3 drivers is made of titanium instead of aluminum for less resistance and hysteresis in the magnet system. Copper pole rings are also used in the magnet system for less inductance. The combination of materials and techniques results in an enormously stable driver with tremendous power and control. The diaphragm is extremely light and stiff, providing rapid acceleration and minimal distortion. It is driven by a powerful neodymium magnet system. These drivers are manufactured in-house by Audio Group Denmark and are engineered for virtually everything. The tweeter is also made in-house; it is a ribbon tweeter with a moving mass of just 0.01(!) gram. This tweeter is extremely stable and linear in its response and distorts almost not at all. The crossover filter in the Borresen T3 has also been improved compared to the filter in the 02 and 03.

Listening: The Borresen T3 is a true reference speaker that delivers outstanding performance for its size. The sound is what we've come to expect from Borresen: neutral, spatial, clean, detailed, and free from listener fatigue. Comparing the T3 with its predecessor, the 02 or 03, you immediately hear clear improvements across the board. The Borresen T3 has a more pleasant, more musical, and rounder bass reproduction where you hear the cabinet contributing much less. This bass is friendlier without losing precision. The spatial imaging is even more expansive, and there is significantly better emotional delivery. In the midrange and treble, there is clearly more life and better distinction between background and foreground. You hear more detail, and the music is looser, more playful, and simply more interesting to listen to. Borresen Acoustics has clearly taken steps in the right direction to make the Borresen T3 a worthy successor to the 02 and 03. The T3 SSE version adds considerably more in terms of precision, air, openness, and detail. With the T3 SSE, the music simply comes through even better compared to the Cryo version. With the solid and stylish stands and Ansuz Darkz T3W isolators on top of the stands included in the price, this is simply one of the best stand-mount speakers in this price range that we know.

The Borresen T3 is available in high-gloss walnut or high-gloss black finish. Available only as a pair, including Ansuz Darkz T3W isolators under the speakers.
