General: The ElectroMotion ESL X is the big brother of the ESL. It features a larger panel with a lower crossover frequency than the standard ESL, resulting in even greater clarity and a larger stereo image.

Technology: The Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL X is a hybrid electrostatic loudspeaker with a passive dual dynamic woofer in its own enclosure. This means that the midrange and treble are reproduced by a very thin and light diaphragm stretched between two grids that generate an electrical field. This diaphragm features a conductive coating allowing it to respond to changes in the electrical field when a music signal passes through the grids. The crossover point is set at 400Hz, with the electrostatic element handling the entire range between 400-22,000Hz. Everything below that is handled by the 2 x 8" bass units at the bottom.

Listening: The Martin ElectroMotion ESL X sounds very open, is ultra transparent and extremely refined. The stereo image is grand and tall, partly because the diaphragm is a line source. Bass is in no short supply either; the bass runs deep and the transition between woofer and diaphragm is seamless. Martin Logan has mastered this very well. The overall character of these Martin Logans is immediately convincing—everything sounds highly musical and with a refinement you rarely hear, and not just for classical music, but Jazz and good pop music also sound excellent on this ESL X. This ESL X is quite young, about 5 to 6 years old, but one of the panels had lower output. For this reason, we equipped the ESL X on 1-11-2025 with a brand new set of original ESL X panels, purchased from Penhold, the official Dutch importer for Martin Logan. For this reason, there is also one spare panel included and the new panels come with official warranty! This set of Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL X is in excellent condition and comes complete with the original packaging. The Martin Logan ESL X is now available to audition at Ohm-Audio BV.
