General: A beautiful multimedia player from the Korean Hifi Rose. A real all-rounder, packed with functionality and a large IPS touchscreen.

Functionality: The Hifi Rose RS451 comes standard with several commonly used applications pre-installed. These include: Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, RoseTube (YouTube music only) and Apple Music. Additionally, the Hifi Rose RS451 is RoonReady and can be placed as a player behind a Roon Server. For those using Audirvana, the Hifi Rose RS451 can also be used as a player for Audirvana servers. Finally, Qobuz Connect and Spotify Connect playback options are also available. In addition to streaming capabilities, there are numerous connections available. Digital inputs include Coax RCA, Toslink Optical, USB-B and an HDMI eARC input. You can also output digitally from the Hifi Rose RS451 via Coax RCA, Toslink Optical or via USB-A to an external DAC. For analog connections, there is 1 set of RCA connections for, for example, a CD player. Both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA can be used when connecting analogly to your amplifier. The Hifi Rose RS451 features an excellent analog volume control, allowing it to be connected directly to power amplifiers as a preamplifier, but you can also lock the volume control to connect the RS451 to integrated amplifiers or an external preamplifier. Internet connectivity can be wired or wireless. The remote uses Bluetooth, so the Hifi Rose RS451 can be placed behind closed cabinet doors and volume can still be controlled. With the eARC input, the Hifi Rose RS451 can output video up to 4K Ultra HD to a television and play sound through your hifi system. In addition to being an excellent streamer and DAC, the Hifi Rose RS451 is also a high-quality headphone amplifier with both balanced and unbalanced headphone outputs on the front of the unit, which can be switched using a rotary knob next to them. All in all, the Hifi Rose RS451 is a stylish and multifunctional device that can be used in practically any situation.

Technical: Unique to the Hifi Rose RS451 is that it features two dedicated ES9027PRO DACs. One is dedicated to the analog outputs that go to the amplifier (or active speakers). The other DAC is purely for the headphone outputs. An interesting but effective design that keeps both functions separate from each other. The processor board in the RS451 is of the latest generation, more powerful and faster than previous Hifi Rose models. Internally, the layout is neatly organized and only high-quality components are used. The power supply is a silent and stable linear power supply with ring core transformer. The Hifi Rose RS451 accepts all PCM formats up to 32bit/384kHz and DSD files up to DSD512. Upsampling of PCM signals to DSD up to DSD512 is also possible. DSD files up to DSD128 via DoP can also be sent to the Coax input. There is also space for a 2.5" SATA SSD up to 4TB for stored music. You can connect the Hifi Rose RSA780 CD Ripper to the USB input to rip your favorite CDs directly to the installed SSD, or to play CDs directly.

Sound: The Hifi Rose RS451 is a clean-sounding streamer with a well-balanced sound that is rich in detail and space. The sound is clear, refined and with a tight and solid bass reproduction. The sound is absolutely not inferior to other similarly priced streamers that don't even have a quarter of the connections and capabilities of the Hifi Rose RS451. The Hifi Rose RS451 is an enormously good and versatile streamer, especially in its price range. The Hifi Rose RS451 can be used in combination with many types and brands of equipment, but you can combine it beautifully in terms of styling and sound with, for example, the Hifi Rose RA280 integrated amplifier (shown in photos 4 and 5).
