Technical Details: The McIntosh MCT-500 is a reliable and beautifully finished CD/SACD transport. The finish is unmistakably McIntosh: black glass front panel with illuminated green logo and light blue display. It pairs perfectly with any other McIntosh component. The McIntosh MCT-500 also sounds excellent as a transport when combined with other brands. For CD playback, you can choose from 4 different digital outputs. For SACD playback, you must use the MCT output, which works exclusively with a McIntosh DAC equipped with MCT input. This input is also found on integrated amplifiers with a DA1 or DA2 module. The McIntosh MCT-500 plays burned CDs without issues, and features a USB input on the front panel that allows you to play music from a USB stick up to 24bit/192kHz.

The transport mechanism in the McIntosh MCT-500 is of exceptional quality. The CD tray is cast aluminum. A highly advanced digital servo system ensures that CDs and SACDs are read quickly, quietly, and precisely. All data from the CD/SACD is read at double speed compared to standard reading speed, which provides superior error correction and disc tracking.
