General: The Square 5 from British Wilson Benesch is an excellent floor standing speaker with high musicality.

Technology: The Wilson Benesch Square 5 features a 4-way configuration, with the lower frequency range provided by an isobaric driver system in the speaker's base. The passive radiator on the back, also called the Assisted Bass Radiator, captures the remaining resonances and translates this into exceptionally tight reproduction. Combined with the intelligent internal cabinet construction, this also allows the midrange driver to be driven unfiltered, which means the midrange is driven directly from the amplifier without extra components that restrict current flow in the signal path.

Listening: Enough impressive features to talk about, but ultimately it's about creating a good listening experience. With the Square 5, this has certainly been achieved. Because the midrange is unfiltered, the midrange sounds extremely open and pure. Voices come incredibly close to you and there is an enormous live feel present. The reproduction is very balanced, the overall picture works perfectly and all features bring musicality to the forefront without sounding technical. The bass reproduction is also very special, exceptionally tight and rhythmic; this is absolutely not a bombastic speaker but the bass reproduction is extremely pure and free from resonances.
