General : The Ansuz Acoustics PowerBox D2 is a specially developed power supply with noise-suppressing technologies for Ansuz cables from D2 / D2 level and higher with a PowerBox connection on the cable.

What does an Ansuz PowerBox do : The reference cables from Ansuz Acoustics from Denmark feature both passive and active noise suppression, with active noise suppression being many times more effective at eliminating noise compared to passive noise suppression. However, the active noise suppression must be powered by an Ansuz PowerBox. Ansuz cables at D2 or D3 level and higher have connections on the cables designed to be connected to an Ansuz PowerBox to power and thus activate the active noise suppression in the cable. Without an Ansuz PowerBox, you won't achieve the optimal potential of your Ansuz reference cables. In fact, with the D-TC2 or D-TC3 cables and higher (Supreme and Gold Signature), there is no point in investing in such a cable if you don't have a PowerBox with it. With the D2 and D3 cables, a PowerBox is optional, but highly recommended if you want to exploit the full potential of these cables.

Technology : The Ansuz PowerBox D2 features a resonant mode power supply, a powerful, fast and silent power supply. The resonant mode power supply differs from a traditional switching power supply in that it delivers current in sine waves rather than square waves. This power supply is virtually distortion-free and provides a low noise floor and low output impedance. Additionally, the Ansuz PowerBox D2 also features various noise-eliminating techniques from Ansuz's own Tesla Coil and Dither technologies. The result is optimal and clean voltage for your reference Ansuz cabling. You'll also find PowerBox functionality in Ansuz Acoustics' PowerSwitch network switches, however these don't have 14V connections and a separate PowerBox sounds better than the PowerBox functionality in Ansuz's switches. There are 3 different types of outputs distributed across a total of 20 outputs. The first type is the 14 Volt output for the flagship speaker cables. The second type is a 5 Volt output for the Ansuz Signalz Phono cables. The third type is a 12 Volt output for analog and digital interlinks (and D2/D3 speaker cables) from Ansuz. The PowerBox D2 voltages are not constant; the voltages are transmitted by pulses to carry the Tesla Coil and Dither technologies from the PowerBox to the Ansuz cables. The Ansuz PowerBox D2 is housed in a natural composite material case with good resonance properties. The case sits on Darkz Feet from Ansuz designed to stand on Ansuz Darkz decouplers for even better resonance behavior and thus better sound.

Listening : The Ansuz PowerBox D2 is Ansuz Acoustics' entry-level PowerBox model. When you use the connections on the cables by means of the included TC Mini Jack cables, you immediately hear what a lower noise floor means. The background becomes quieter, the soundstage is clearer, and the sound is more organic. Details emerge from nothing, and there is more air around the performers. This results in better clarity and simply a more interesting presentation with greater emotional involvement. The PowerBox D2 provides all these benefits, just like all Ansuz Acoustics PowerBoxes. Models above the PowerBox D2 (D-TC, D-TC Supreme and D-TC Gold Signature) feature a larger amount of Tesla Coils and Dither Circuitry, thus providing an even lower noise floor and improved musical reproduction.
