General: The Pro-Ject Xtension 10 is a very solid and durably built turntable. The platter alone weighs 10kg, add the rest of the turntable to that and you arrive at a total of 26 kg. This substantial weight rests on 4 magnetic decoupling feet that make the whole thing float, as it were. The massive aluminum platter rotates on a ceramic ball bearing which reduces resonances for stable and clean playback. The tonearm is a high-quality EVO 10 CC tonearm from Pro-Ject, this thick arm features a carbon housing and uses OFC internal cabling. The tonearm is fitted with the € 649,- Goldring Eroica LX, an excellent MC cartridge with Neodymium magnet and Gyger II diamond stylus.

Listening: The Pro-Ject Xtension 10 Evolution in this configuration with the EVO 10 CC tonearm and Goldring Eroica LX cartridge is a very good all-round turntable. Built with high quality and durability, but also versatile in its tonal character. The sound is warm enough for a relaxed listening session with quiet vocals or intimate jazz, but the sound is also stable and dynamic enough to play pop or electronic music. For people with a versatile vinyl collection, this is the ultimate turntable in its price range, especially at this nice second-hand price.
