General: The AVM Evolution SD5.2 is a multifunctional preamplifier with excellent tube output stage that, in addition to volume control, also has a high-quality D/A Converter and streamer built-in. It also features a fine headphone amplifier.

Technical: The AVM SD5.2 is essentially an SD3.2 but with a high-quality tube output stage. In addition to its excellent preamplifier capability, the AVM SD5.2 also has a high-quality high-res D/A Converter built-in with AES/EBU, Coax, Toslink and USB-B inputs. The built-in streamer can be controlled with the AVM RC S App, a simple and clear application that not only allows you to stream, but also control the entire device, such as switching inputs and adjusting volume. The streamer is a UPnP streamer, so people with an Android device can also use the streaming app BubbleUPnP to stream. This also means that the AVM SD5.2 can be used as an Audirvana player.

Listening: The AVM SD 5.2 has a pleasant and analog sound. The soundstage is large with good 3D layout and the music flows in a pleasant and refined dynamic manner from the speakers. The bass is round and very musical and the midrange is rich in warmth and emotion, the treble is clean but soft. The overall tonal balance is very well put together and this provides a captivating listening experience without listener fatigue.
