Technology: Essentially, the Kii Audio BXT system is a Kii Three, expanded with BXT subfrequency extenders and line arrays (Subwoofers are not really the primary element) and optionally supplied with the Kii Control. The Kii Three itself features different software and different settings, so the Kii Three now sounds different than a full range Kii Three. As soon as the Kii Three is disconnected, it functions again as a standalone unit. The software is automatically adjusted. The bass section is adapted for integration with the BXT woofer tower. In the BXT System, each unit is driven independently with its own 250 Watt Purifi amplifier. The BXT unit itself has 8 woofers, the Kii Three has 4 woofers, and a midrange driver and of course the tweeter, totaling 14 units, each with a 250 Watt Purifi amplifier. The Purifi amplifiers are new, and we find the sound quality has genuinely improved. The BXT System thus has a remarkable 3500 Watt continuous amplifier power on board. Per channel! It is also the case that each unit is driven directly, thus without the intervention of a crossover filter. Control is therefore optimal and distortion and losses are minimal. Whether you turn it up loud or keep it quiet now makes almost no difference. The greatest technological distinction in this BXT system is that the Kii BXT System radiates the bass in a kidney-shaped pattern, just like the Kii Three. Every other speaker on the market radiates below 250Hz omnidirectionally. The result is that bass reproduction is very heavily dependent on the room and the position within it. You know this well. In one spot in the room there is plenty of bass, in another spot almost nothing. You keep moving your speakers until there is a spot where the bass sounds acceptable at your listening position, but often that is not the ideal spot for you. With every speaker in every room, it remains a very strong compromise. The Kii Audio Three and BXT radiate the bass down to about 40Hz forward. The BXT system is even a line source in the bass. The result is that the BXT system brings the bass to your chair, into the room, and not all around the room. The bass energy is bundled and radiates strongly forward in the BXT System, and almost not upward or downward. Your neighbors will appreciate that. The quality of the bass is genuinely very high, like the other qualities of this remarkable system. A second technical distinction is that the BXT system is phase-correct. Thanks to the DSP, all units are driven and, if necessary, delayed, so that all frequencies reach your ears simultaneously. This delivers a very natural and homogeneous reproduction, and not only at your listening position, but throughout the room. In summary, the Kii Audio BXT System is a very complete and unique High End audio system. Add your streamer, CD player and the like, and you have a complete and utterly unique system in your home, which looks very good and sounds utterly unique.

Filters: The Kii BXT System has a new series of PRO filters on board with which we can completely adjust the speakers to your room (acoustics) and to your taste. There was already fantastic useful tone control, but now we can also correct room acoustics. With a few notch filters, we can reduce standing waves to ripples, and we can make a somewhat harsh room sound more relaxed. You can do all of this yourself, but we do it at purchase, free of charge at your home.

Listening: We already know the Kii Three very well, and the new Kii Three with BXT is improved again. The new Purifi amplifiers provide a more audiophile sound, with more emotion and warmth, more magic as you wish. A cable set is supplied as standard, but as is usually the case, there is still significant room for improvement. We prefer to wire the Kii BXT/Three with Ansuz Network Cables. The X level is already much better than the supplied network cable. The BXT module can be excellently connected with a proper power cord, which is not possible with the Three due to tight space. Once properly cabled, the Kii BXT sounds like another world. The Kii BXT System is a relatively compact floor-standing speaker which sounds much larger than it is, and for its size has an unimaginably deep and tight bass reproduction. The Kii Audio BXT system sounds different than the Kii Three alone. You might expect the sound to be roughly the same, but only that the bass reproduction would be deeper or more powerful and perhaps the BXT system could only play somewhat louder. However, things are completely different. The reproduction of the Kii Audio BXT system is of an entirely different order. The soundstage is larger, more refined, and much more effortless. There is an enormous sense of ease emanating from it. Everything flows naturally, and that is quite a difference compared to the Kii Three without BXT. You also become more relaxed yourself. The distortion in the bass is even a factor of 10 lower than with the Kii Three. Technically everything checks out, and in terms of listening (emotion/goosebumps), there really is nothing left to wish for. Of course, you should expect that for a system of this price, but we know plenty of speakers at 2 or 3 times the price that don't achieve this, and then you still need a complete installation on top of that. The Kii Audio BXT system, like the Kii Three, is utterly unique in both concept and sound, and both systems are standard available to audition at Ohm Audio.
