General : The McIntosh MSA5500 is the latest amplifier from McIntosh from America. It is an all-in-one streaming amplifier, making it ideal for those who want outstanding sound reproduction in a single chassis. Technology : The McIntosh MSA5500 is a first-class all-rounder. The quality is what you expect from McIntosh - solid and reliable. The amplifier section is powerful, and with 160 watts per channel at 4 ohms, the MSA5500 can handle most speakers. The distinctive blue VU meters on the front allow you to see precisely how much power you have remaining. The digital section is handled by an excellent streamer, and the D/A Converter is a Quad Balanced 32-bit DAC that features a very high dynamic range and low distortion. This DAC can convert PCM signals up to 24bit/192kHz via SPDIF Coax and Toslink inputs, and PCM signals up to 32bit/384kHz as well as DSD signals up to DSD256 via the USB-B input. Last but not least, the McIntosh MSA5500 also features an excellent phono stage for turntables using MM cartridges. Additionally, the McIntosh MSA5500 is equipped with McIntosh's techniques for protecting the amplifier and your speakers. McIntosh Power Guard and Sentry Monitor technology have been implemented. The Power Guard monitors the output signal and makes small adjustments if necessary to prevent clipping, meaning you're much less likely to blow your speakers because there's less distortion in the signal. The Sentry Monitor is a fuse-free protection that disables the output stage whenever too much current flows through, such as when playing too loud or in case of short circuits or overvoltage. The heatsinks developed by McIntosh keep the transistors cool and reduce warm-up time.
