General: Quad is an audio brand with an enormously rich history. Quad was actually the brand to have in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, Quad has breathed new life into this heritage by re-releasing the legendary 3-series equipment. But with the Artera series, Quad shows that they are also a modern company that can make sleek, versatile and great-sounding equipment at an affordable price. Despite its compact and stylish design, the Artera Stereo is a very powerful stereo power amplifier.

Technology: The Quad Artera Stereo derives much of its power from Quad's patented current dumping technology. A low power Class A/B amplifier provides a pure and precise signal, while a high power current dumping amplifier delivers the power and grip over the speakers. Internally, the Quad Artera Stereo uses extremely pure OCC wiring, which due to its casting and production method has no crystal transitions in the copper, allowing the signal to pass through freely, purely and unrestricted. This means the internal wiring adds no coloration to the sound and allows the amplifier to deliver its power immediately to the output stage. The Quad Artera Stereo has 2 x 140 Watts at 8 Ohm and 2 x 250 Watts at 4 Ohm. Combined with its very stable and powerful linear power supply, this makes the Quad Artera Stereo well-suited for many types of speakers, including speakers that place great demands on amplifiers.

Listening: The Quad Artera Stereo is a modern amplifier with a classic sound in a modern package. The sound is neutral, powerful and dynamic, but in a way that doesn't shout about it. There is excellent distinction and intelligibility of the different layers in the recording thanks to the very good articulation and rhythmic performance of the Quad Artera Stereo. The sound is full and has a good amount of body, without the sound appearing colored. With the large amount of power the Quad Artera Stereo has, you don't need to be afraid to turn up the volume knob nicely every now and then; rock, metal, electronic music or grand orchestral works are presented grandly and impressively. Smaller-scale music such as smooth jazz, vocal music and chamber music is also reproduced in detail and pleasantly. Actually, we can simply say in many respects that the Quad Artera Stereo sounds 'the way it should'. A broad notion and certainly very personal, but after listening to this excellent stereo power amplifier, we suspect that a large part of people will agree with that statement.

We do not have the Quad Artera Stereo in stock, but it can be delivered in a short time. For listening sessions, we may have the Quad Artera Mono power amplifiers ready for demo so you can get an idea of how good the amplifiers in the Artera series are. Ohm-Audio B.V. is an official Dutch Quad dealer.
