General: The AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon is an ethernet cable on a reel that is cut to length. This cable is the perfect upgrade compared to a standard CAT7 cable. The AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon is ideal for use as a cable from the router in the meter cupboard towards the switch or streamer in your audio system. The AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon fits through standard conduits and can also be placed in crawl spaces. The AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon can also be used as an ethernet cable between switch and streamer in shorter lengths.

Technology: What makes the AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon better than standard ethernet cables has to do with a few factors. First, the shielding - the outer jacket is made of a specifically selected type of PVC, waterproof, which allows the CAT700 to be placed in crawl spaces as well. The shielding of the conductors themselves is a Hard-Cell Foam insulation, a special type of foam injected with nitrogen. The Hard-Cell Foam insulation ensures that no interference is picked up by the conductors, which in turn reduces distortion. The 8 conductors themselves are packaged two by two in a metal foil, surrounded by a metal braid. You can attach this braid to the CAT7 connector at the source to actively connect the shielding to the connector, making the shielding significantly more effective. The conductors are solid core conductors, made of very pure 5% silver-plated LGC copper.

Sound Characteristics: Compared to a cheaper standard ethernet cable, the AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon delivers noticeably better performance. The sound is purer, more detailed and less muddy. Bass is tighter and the soundstage is better defined. The AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon has a thicker layer of silver plating compared to the CAT700 Forest and therefore sounds even cleaner, freer and more rhythmic.

The AudioQuest CAT700 Carbon is in stock at Ohm-Audio B.V. from the reel and can be cut to length. For the connectors, we recommend the Telegärtner connectors which are easy to assemble yourself without special tools (we can send you instructions with photos). Alternatively, we can also assemble AudioQuest's smaller and more affordable connectors. If you wish to assemble these yourself, you will need a special AudioQuest tool for this.
