General : The Børresen X1 is the newest and most affordable monitor speaker from the Danish High End brand Børresen Acoustics. The X-series from Børresen Acoustics sets new standards in sound quality and musicality in its price range. The Børresen X1 is an innovative 2-way monitor speaker with a tall, narrow and stylish enclosure. The X-series from Børresen Acoustics is the most affordable line from Børresen Acoustics, the X-series is more affordable than the more expensive 0-series and Z-series, yet there has been no compromise on quality. And you hear that immediately.

Technical Details : The Børresen X1 features a very thoughtful design. The black baffle is made of MDF and features a clean, screwless design with carbon accents. The enclosure is lute-shaped, slim and deep. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured in-house by Børresen. The drivers and tweeter used are unique. The dipole planar tweeter is made from a special type of foil and has a moving mass of only 0.01 grams, driven by a fast and extremely powerful neodymium magnet. Below the tweeter you'll find a 4.5" driver which handles the midrange and bass response. This driver consists of 3 different layers that are pressed extremely tightly together. The 3 layers consist of 2 layers of spread carbon, with a layer of aramide in honeycomb design in the middle for reinforcement. Through the use of these materials and their tight compression, the driver in the Børresen X1 is extremely light and extremely rigid and free from resonances. Combined with the powerful neodymium magnet drive, this results in extremely fast acceleration of the moving units, which in turn results in a more realistic and refined reproduction. The materials used, such as copper caps around the pole rings in the magnet system, ensure extremely low self-inductance, which prevents distortion and resonance. The Børresen X1 is an open system with 3 ports which are tuned for musically relevant frequencies. The tweeter has its own compartment with a venting port in the cabinet, so the tweeter is not affected by the pressure created by the woofers and midtone driver. The enclosure itself is made from a natural composite wood material and reinforced with carbon fiber inserts. The total weight is 12.9 kg per speaker.

Stands : The Borresen stands for the X-series are very solidly built and beautifully finished. The stands are made from a natural composite material for the best acoustic properties. The pillar is extremely solid and under the base plate you'll find Darkz Feet so that Ansuz Darkz or Axxess Noir can be placed underneath for optimal isolation and the best sound quality. The stands weigh 10.8 kg each, so together with the speakers the total weight is 23.7 kg per speaker and stand.

Listening : The Børresen X1 sounds unlike any other speaker in its price range. So controlled, so spatial and so refined and free from resonance, at any volume. It's immediately clear that we're dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there's an enormous sense of calm throughout. You immediately find yourself in the space where the performers are playing, whether it's a small studio or a large hall or even a stadium. The Børresen X1 knows exactly how to capture the atmosphere. The bass reproduction for a speaker of this size is also remarkable, the bass is not only deep and powerful but also very controlled and in harmony with the rest of the music. The Børresen X1 can play quite loud, and even at the highest volumes the sound remains stable and enjoyable to listen to. In addition to high volumes, you can of course also do very well with the Børresen X1 at low volumes. Because of the very low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter and drivers, even with quiet music at room volume you'll hear every detail and see a spatial image. The Børresen X1 is a speaker you'll probably never want to part with. Unless the Z-series or 0-series from Børresen Acoustics come within reach. Simply everything is present, dynamics, speed, rhythm, spatiality and above all peace and quiet. What more could one want?
