The Lector Audio VM-200 is a prime example of a perfectly executed and highly musical stereo power amplifier. Stable with a very musical character. The natural sound of these power amplifiers stems from the exceptional design. The VM-200 has only 2 stages from input to output, which is unique. These stages, the driver stage and the power stage, each have their own power supplies including their own transformer. The driver stage itself consists of a PLC86 vacuum triode tube for driving the Mosfet power bank. This tube in turn drives the Mosfet bank. Up to 20 watts, the Lector Audio VM-200 operates entirely in pure Class A. The output power is 2 x 115 watts at 8 ohms and 2 x 180 watts at 4 ohms. Sufficient to drive any speaker to musical performance. The entire signal path is DC coupled, meaning a capacitor-less and thus very clean and aging-free signal path. The transformer for the Mosfets is a specially wound 500 watt transformer, specifically designed for these amplifiers. The power bank has a storage capacity of 70,000 µF. The Lector Audio VM-200 features a set of excellent WBT speaker terminals for spades and banana connectors. The Lector Audio VM-200 is built with only the finest components such as polypropylene capacitors, toroidal transformers, metal film and tantalum resistors. The entirely Italian-built Lector Audio VM-200 is designed as a pure single-ended stereo amplifier. Balanced designs, in their view, add nothing, can only deliver more power, but precision is often considerably less. And musicality often as well. In terms of sound, the VM-200 is a true Lector amplifier. The first thing that strikes you is the enormous detail and the matching musicality. The soundstage is lively, very pure and clean, and all musical instruments are completely separated from each other. Vocal reproduction is excellent, and bass reproduction is magnificent. Very pure, deep, and with character. What also immediately stands out is the enormous spatial imaging. The Lector Audio VM-200 is a typical amplifier that is not at all intrusive, but rather completely relaxing. This Lector Audio VM-200 amplifier is a real addition to the overcrowded amplifier market, and for what they deliver, technically and musically, they are downright affordable.
