General: The Borresen T1 is the latest standmount loudspeaker from Audio Group Denmark, it is the successor to the Borresen 01. The Borresen T1 is improved in many respects compared to its predecessor and features the most modern technology of today.
Stands: The Borresen T1 is a 2-way standmount loudspeaker. The solid stands are included and are therefore part of the price. With these stands you also receive 6 pieces of Ansuz Darkz T3W decouplers valued at € 7,200. You place these Ansuz Darkz T3W decouplers between the top plate of the stand and the bottom of the T1 loudspeaker. This way the loudspeaker is decoupled from the stand, which benefits the sound. It is still recommended to also place Ansuz Darkz decouplers under the bottom plate of the stands for best results, but you are not required to do so as the stands can simply stand on the floor.
Cabinet: The cabinet of the Borresen T1 is larger than that of the 01, combined with the new Borresen IronFree5 drivers this provides fuller and rounder bass reproduction. The cabinet is internally reinforced with one-piece milled hardwood braces combined with carbon fiber reinforcements, making the cabinet many times more rigid than its predecessor; the internal airflow is also improved. On the outside of the cabinet you will find a slot on the side which is inlaid with carbon fiber. This slot and carbon fiber are not just for looks, they also contribute to the overall rigidity of the cabinet and better resonance response. There are bass reflex ports on the rear as well as a port for venting the ribbon tweeter. Some distance from the rear wall is therefore desirable, although the Borresen T1 can stand much closer to the wall than you might expect. For optimal sound quality, we recommend a minimum distance of 50cm from the rear wall. The Borresen T1 can be delivered in a beautiful high-gloss walnut finish, but also in a clean high-gloss black finish. On the rear there are loudspeaker terminals for banana plugs, and there is also a BNC input for the included 14 Volt adapters or to be powered from an Ansuz PowerBox. This 14 Volt connection is to power the Ansuz active noise cancelling techniques of the latest generation that are integrated in the Borresen T1.
T1 Cryo and T1 Silver Supreme Edition (SSE): The Borresen T1 is available as T1 Cryo or as T1 SSE. The differences between the two loudspeakers are significant; the T1 Cryo is much more competitively priced, but the T1 SSE is considerably better than the Cryo version. In both versions of the T1, all metal components including the magnet system, baskets and internal wiring, the coils on the crossover and the tweeter are cryogenically treated. Borresen Acoustics performs the cryogenic treatment of the metal components in-house and in their own way. The cryogenic treatment of the metal components is a process that takes a total of 3 days. In the first 24 hours, the metal components are cooled to cryogenic temperatures. For the 24 hours after that, the temperature is kept constantly around -196° Celsius. During the 24 hours that follow, the temperature of the metal components is gradually brought back to room temperature. This cryogenic treatment strengthens the metals and relieves stress, and also improves the conductive properties of the metals in the conductors and coils. But in addition to the cryogenic treatment, the T1 SSE version also features a completely different midrange driver. The T1 SSE contains the IronFree5 Titanium SSE driver. This not only features the in-house manufactured pure silver pole ring in the magnet system, as was also the case with the SSE versions of the 0-series. The T1 SSE also has a special 3D printed basket made of solid titanium in which the woofer is suspended. This basket is based on the Zirconium basket in the M-series loudspeakers from Borresen Acoustics. The result of the silver pole ring in the magnet system is better conduction and less resistance/inductance, and the result of the titanium basket is better stability and less resonance in the woofer. The Borresen T1 SSE sounds more powerful, more transparent, more detailed and simply more complete than the already outstanding T1 Cryo. Both versions share the same DNA, the SSE version simply takes a step further, but you pay for that as well.
Drivers: The diaphragm of the midrange/woofer is also improved compared to the diaphragm used in the 0-series. The diaphragm in the drivers of the T-series consists of 2 layers of spread tow carbon with a layer of aramid in honeycomb design in between. The carbon layers and the aramid honeycomb layer are pressed stiffly together for very high stiffness, these layers are bonded with a small amount of epoxy resin with graphene and boron particles mixed through for optimal stiffness and unique sound. These diaphragms are very light but extremely strong, they cannot practically deform. The voice coil of the drivers in the T1 is made of Titanium instead of aluminum for less resistance and hysteresis in the magnet system. Copper pole rings are also used in the magnet system for less inductance. The combination of materials and techniques results in an extremely stable driver with enormous power and control, the diaphragm is extremely light and stiff which provides fast acceleration and low distortion. And it is driven by a powerful Neodymium magnet system. These drivers are made in-house by Audio Group Denmark and are engineered for virtually everything. The tweeter is also made in-house; it is a ribbon tweeter with a moving mass of 0.01 (!) gram. This tweeter is extremely stable and linear in its reproduction and it distorts almost not at all. The crossover in the Borresen T1 is also improved compared to the crossover in the 01.
Listening: The Borresen T1 is a true reference loudspeaker that delivers extremely good performance for its size. The sound is what we are used to from Borresen: neutral, spatial, clean, detailed and free from listening fatigue. Comparing the T1 with its predecessor, the 01, you clearly and immediately hear improvement in every aspect. The Borresen T1s have a more pleasant, more musical and rounder bass reproduction where you also hear the cabinet contributing much less. This bass is friendlier without losing precision. The spatial imaging is considerably larger and there is much better emotional transfer. In the midrange and treble there is clearly more life and better distinction between background and foreground. You hear more detail and the music is looser, more playful and simply more interesting to listen to. Borresen Acoustics has clearly taken steps in the right direction to make the Borresen T1 a worthy successor to the 01. The T1 SSE version adds significantly to this in terms of precision, air, openness and detail. With the T1 SSE, the music simply comes through even better compared to the Cryo version. With the solid and stylish stands and Ansuz Darkz T3W decouplers on top of the stands included in the price, this is simply one of the best standmount loudspeakers in this price range that we know.
The Borresen T1 is available in a high-gloss walnut or high-gloss black finish. Only available as a set including stands and Ansuz Darkz T3W on top of the stands.
