General: The Axxess L3 is a high-end 2.5-way floor-standing loudspeaker from Audio Group Denmark, made and designed with the same vision as the Børresen loudspeakers. The new Axxess products are created as an introduction to the Audio Group Denmark sound at a more affordable price. The cables, amplifiers, and loudspeakers are all simplified versions of Ansuz Acoustics cables, Aavik Acoustics amplifiers, and Børresen Acoustics loudspeakers.

Technology: The Axxess L3 is an affordable entry-level floor-standing loudspeaker to the Audio Group Denmark sound, however no compromises were made on quality and the L3 is designed with the same attention to quality as the more expensive Audio Group Denmark products. This applies to all products made under the Axxess name. What is completely new about the Axxess loudspeakers compared to Børresen Acoustics loudspeakers is the tweeter. The Axxess tweeter is a ribbon tweeter with a Kapton membrane. This tweeter is not as light as the 0.01-gram Børresen tweeter, but is still 25 times lighter than the average dome tweeter and has twice the surface area. These ribbon tweeters excel in definition, airiness, and stable performance at both high and low volumes. The Axxess L3 uses the same midrange drivers and woofers found in the Børresen X-series. These drivers consist of 3 different layers pressed extremely tightly together. The 3 layers consist of 2 layers of spread-tow carbon with a layer of aramid in honeycomb design in the middle for reinforcement. By using these materials and pressing them tightly together, the driver in the Axxess L3 is extremely light and extremely rigid, thus free of resonances. Combined with the powerful Neodymium magnet drive with pure copper caps around the pole rings for lower inductance, this results in very fast acceleration of the moving units, which in turn produces a more realistic and refined sound. The materials used result in extremely low self-inductance, which means there is little distortion or resonance. The Axxess L3 can also play quite powerfully without the sound breaking up due to the stability of the tweeter and midrange/woofer. The cabinet design also contributes to this; the enclosure is made of a sturdy natural composite material with excellent acoustic properties. Internally, the cabinet is reinforced and consists of 3 compartments. The tweeter has its own compartment in the cabinet which is vented by a narrow port at the back, this creates a dipole effect and also prevents the tweeter from suffering from resonances from the woofer. The midrange driver sits below the tweeter and also has its own compartment which is vented by 2 ports on the rear. The midrange is not filtered downward, which makes the transition from low tones to the midrange smooth. This is why the Axxess L3 is a 2.5-way system and not a 3-way loudspeaker. Below the midrange sit the 2 bass woofers with the same cone format as the midrange driver. These 2 woofers use the largest compartment in the cabinet which is vented by 3 ports. By using multiple smaller woofers instead of 1 large unwieldy woofer, you get more speed and articulation/definition in bass reproduction.

Decoupling: The Axxess L3 features stylish brackets on the underside with special flat feet in the corners, so no spikes. These feet can be placed directly on the floor, but ideally Axxess Noir or Ansuz Darkz decouplers should be placed underneath, which significantly improves sound quality. Of course, the Axxess L3 already sounds amazing without additional decouplers. However, we always recommend placing Axxess or Ansuz decouplers underneath to get the most out of the loudspeakers. The result with the Axxess Noir or Ansuz Darkz decouplers under the loudspeakers is that the bass reproduction becomes tighter and resonates less. Voices and instruments sound fuller, the soundstage becomes clearer and better organized, and there is more peace. In short, the musicality improves significantly.

Listening: The Axxess L3 is a very special loudspeaker with a fantastic sound. In our view, one of the best options in its price range. What's remarkable is the power that comes from the slim enclosure; even in the bass, reproduction is tight and controlled. Thanks to its very light and stable midrange, woofers, and tweeter, the sound is extremely detailed and has plenty of air and definition. This provides an honest reproduction with a truly live feel. Especially with cymbals, hi-hats, and shakers like Cabasa and Maracas, you can hear this air and definition excellently. Even with quieter vocal music, the Axxess L3 provides an understandable and comfortable listening experience. You can take the Axxess L3 in many directions; electronic music at high volume remains tight, dynamic, and stable sounding, and even with quiet music at low volume, details remain audible and the soundstage stays upright.
