General: The PL200 3G is the smaller floor standing speaker in Monitor Audio's latest reference Platinum 3G series from the United Kingdom.

Technical: The Monitor Audio PL200 3G is a very modern speaker, not only does it look modern, but it is also very modern in construction. The size is very suitable for many types of living rooms and thanks to the cleverly designed and solid enclosure there are very few resonances. The 6" bass woofers are renewed RDT III woofers and the 4" midrange driver is also an RDT III driver. These RDT III drivers where RDT stands for Rigid Diaphragm Technology are designed to be stiff and light so they cannot break (distort). The RDT III has been improved on 3 points compared to its predecessor to distort even less and reproduce music even more accurately. The tweeter is a very modern MPD III tweeter, this is a folded ribbon tweeter which is designed for Monitor Audio's flagship system (the Hyphn), but it is also found in the PL200 3G. The drivers used and clever and solid cabinet construction provide an extremely high-quality whole that is not only technically extremely good, but also enormously musical.

Listening: If we had to describe the sound of the Monitor Audio PL200 3G in one word, that word would be 'coherent'. There is an enormous good balance between all reproduced frequencies. The Monitor Audio PL200 3G sweeps you into the recording and doesn't let go. Particularly remarkable is the neutrality and tangibility of the sound, while there is also a fine combination of dynamics and tranquility to be found. The bass goes very deep and is very controlled for a speaker of this size. You can also clearly hear that the drivers and tweeter used actually don't distort, the sound always remains intelligible and clear, whether you turn it up loud or soft. In our view, the Monitor Audio PL200 3G is a very successful speaker with a balanced sound.

This set of Monitor Audio PL200 3G is finished in the elegant Satin White finish, the set is less than a year old and comes complete with packaging and accessories.
