General: The PowerSwitch D3 is part of the latest generation of network switches from the Danish brand Ansuz Acoustics. This Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 uses the latest technologies from Ansuz Acoustics. Ansuz Acoustics has applied the brand new Active Zirconium Tesla Coils in the PowerSwitch D3. The Analog Dither Technology is also of the latest (3rd) generation. All these technologies + all other technologies in the Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 provide a reduction of noise in the music signal and amplification of the music signal.

Noise: The sound quality of the music you stream depends not only on your streamer and the streaming service or storage location used. The network switch can also greatly help in perfecting the sound quality of streamed music. Before an internet signal enters your home via an ethernet cable, many noise signals are picked up from outside and through equipment where noise floor is not considered since it is irrelevant, for example in laptops, gaming consoles and PCs. So although the incoming signal is usable, it is contaminated, and you hear that back in the sound quality. A contaminated signal sounds murky, compact, less free/open and has less 'body'. The Ansuz Acoustics PowerSwitches are designed with a keen eye and ear for an efficient method of noise suppression and signal distribution. The intention is that you go directly from your modem/router to the Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 with a LAN/Ethernet cable. The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 then filters contamination from the incoming signal and thereby reduces the noise floor. This provides a cleaner, but especially also more refined and quieter and thus more analog sounding audio reproduction with a blacker background.

Technology: All PowerSwitches from Ansuz Acoustics are equipped with different noise suppressing and music signal amplifying technologies. The PowerSwitches from Ansuz Acoustics suppress noise through their own Tesla Coil technology. The Tesla Coils from Ansuz Acoustics are an effective and high-quality technology, based on a simple principle. A Tesla Coil consists of 2 coils, a coil and a counter coil. When the coil detects a noise spike, the counter coil creates a noise spike out of phase, this cancels out the initial noise spike. Think of it like a noise cancelling headphone, which does exactly the same, only a noise cancelling headphone does this electronically whereas the Ansuz Tesla Coils do this mechanically. The more Tesla Coils applied in the signal path, the better the noise is eliminated. The difference between the different PowerSwitches from Ansuz Acoustics lies in the quantity and different types of Tesla Coils applied, with the most expensive PowerSwitch from Ansuz, the D-TC GOLD Signature, containing the largest quantity and most advanced Tesla Coils for the most optimal noise suppression and sound quality, additionally it also has a better housing and the PCBs are internally mounted on Ansuz Darkz decouplers.

The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 is a reference model PowerSwitch, only the ultra reference PowerSwitches (D-TC Supreme and GOLD Signature) are above it. The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 sounds another step better than the already excellent PowerSwitch A3 and X-TC3. Also, the newer generation PowerSwitches sound more open, transparent and energetic compared to the previous series. The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 features no fewer than 90 Active Square Tesla Coils, 3 Active Zirconium Tesla Coils, 2 Active Cable Tesla Coils and 2 Analog Dither Circuitry Gen.3. As an extra compared to the Ansuz PowerSwitch A3, the PowerSwitch D3 also uses Ansuz's highly effective 'Anti Aerial Resonance Coil' technology. The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 therefore has much more comprehensive noise suppression compared to the PowerSwitch A3 and X-TC3. The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 features a high-quality and stable internal power supply, so you don't need to spend extra money buying an expensive linear external power supply.

All PowerSwitches from Ansuz Acoustics are equipped with a built-in Ansuz Acoustics PowerBox. The cables of the Ansuz D2-series and higher have a block with a 3.5" Jack input which can be connected to the Ansuz PowerSwitch via a Jack cable supplied with the Ansuz cable. In the block of the Ansuz D2-series cables and higher are Active Tesla Coils, these are Tesla Coils which operate under voltage, these Tesla Coils are up to 4 times as effective as the Passive Tesla Coils. However, the Active Tesla Coils must first be energized, this is what the PowerBox functionality is for. This provides a lower noise floor and less ground potential difference between equipment.

Sound Characteristics: The first thing you notice when you connect the Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 is the peace and visibility of the soundstage. It is as if a thin curtain in front of the speakers has been removed and you are more involved in the music. There is more emotion, a blacker and quieter background and better atmosphere transfer from the recording location to your living room. The definition of instruments is more clearly audible and the sound is smoother, as it were. The Ansuz PowerSwitch D3 is a clearly audible step up in sound quality compared to the more affordable Ansuz X-TC3 PowerSwitch. You hear more layers in the recording, you resonate more with the music you listen to and the whole becomes more musical, which makes the listening experience more interesting and enjoyable while also reducing listening fatigue.
