General: The Platina series is the best series of equipment that the British brand Quad has to offer. The equipment in the Platina series is larger, heavier, more powerful and even better finished than the already outstanding retro 3-series and the modern Artera series from Quad. The Quad Platina series consists of 3 devices: the Quad Platina Integrated integrated amplifier with built-in DAC, the Quad Platina Stream network player with digital and analog outputs (both fixed and variable), and finally this Quad Platina CDT digital CD transport.

Technical Details: The Quad Platina CDT is a very robustly constructed device. The housing is extremely solidly built and internally only high-quality components are used with a generous linear power supply with toroidal transformer. The Quad Platina CDT weighs no less than 10.9 kg, which is not light for a CD transport. The Quad Platina CDT features a specially developed CD drive mechanism designed for smooth operation, stable tracking and consistent error correction. Additionally, it contains a special temperature-compensated crystal oscillator that is more stable and consistent than conventional oscillators because it is not sensitive to temperature fluctuations, ensuring it always maintains correct timing. This precise timing forms the basis of the Platina CDT's performance; the jitter is extremely low, which keeps the integrity of the music signal intact and ensures clean and accurate playback. In addition to playing CDs, you can also play music from an external USB storage via the Platina CDT. You have a choice of an SPDIF Coax RCA output or a Toslink optical output. The display is fully adjustable to personal preference, dimmable and with various options that the display can show, such as a Quad logo or CD information, etc.

Sound : The Quad Platina CDT clearly distinguishes itself from the already excellent but more affordable Quad 3CDT from Quad, which is built more as a high-quality but compact and affordable option. Not only in build quality and format, but also sonically this Quad Platina CDT goes significantly further in terms of spatiality, detail, ease and dynamics. The presented soundstage is enormous and refined, and the placement of what happens in the soundstage feels natural and realistic. The music is presented tangibly and engagingly and the layers in the recording are clearly audible in a pleasant way. The bass has a detailed but slightly rounded character that provides a natural and pleasant bass reproduction, this bass is well present but never unnaturally dominant. The sound is simply complete, everything included, without flaws. Neither too much nor too little. Not only the build quality and durability, but also the musicality and fun factor make the Quad Platina CDT an ideal and very musical option with an excellent price/quality ratio. The Quad Platina CDT's neutral character allows it to match well with many types and brands of equipment. But an optimal match, both aesthetically and sonically, is of course with the Quad Platina Integrated amplifier since this also features a built-in DAC.

The Quad Platina CDT is now available for demonstration at Ohm-Audio B.V. and can be auditioned by appointment. From the Quad Platina Series we also have the Quad Platina Integrated amplifier and the Quad Platina Stream network player in stock.
