EN.
General : Unique compact monitor, made in South Korea by Bo San, a practicing Buddhist Monk and his team. Now available as a competitively priced used set in like-new condition and complete. Traded in for a set of Seawave AM34, they are simply that good.

Technology : We know many of the loudspeakers in the world. Usually the technology is largely the same everywhere. A 2-way or 3-way speaker, and a large bass woofer and a smaller midrange driver and a tweeter, housed in what is usually an MDF/HDF enclosure. They all sound excellent, the more expensive ones often better than the cheaper ones due to better components. Most components come from a factory somewhere. Units, crossovers, cabinets and so on. Seawave Acoustic is different. We discovered the brand at the Hifi Deluxe show at the Marriott Hotel in Munich in 2022, and this was the room where we spent the longest time. In the room, the AM23 from Seawave Acoustic was playing. The sound was wonderfully beautiful, musical and simply very authentic, very addictive. We decided quite quickly to bring this brand to the BeNeLux for music lovers here. Absolutely everything is different about Seawave Acoustic.

First of all, the special enclosure. This enclosure is a solid cast enclosure made of AC4C aluminium. Not standard aluminium but Aluminium combined with Silicon and Magnesium. This creates a very rigid, heavy but also resonance-damped enclosure. Of course it is a complex and expensive undertaking to produce such an enclosure, but the result is truly excellent. It not only looks magnificent, but it also sounds incredibly good. Inside the enclosure are 3 units. A Bass woofer by Eton, custom produced for Seawave Acoustic. From 1.2KHz, the titanium compression driver in the horn is used, up to about 17KHz, so the entire midrange comes from this unit without phase shifts. It is a small horn turned from a solid wood laminate block. On top of the AM23 sits a Beryllium supertweeter that handles the ultra high frequency range up to 35,000 Hz, this Beryllium supertweeter radiates upward for extra spaciousness.

The cabinet and the units are already very special. But the switchable filter technology is the next area in which Seawave Acoustic excels. Seawave Acoustic makes everything themselves. The resistors, the coils (inductors) and the capacitors. A normal inductor is a coil made from an enormous length of thin copper wire. A coil with the same value is made by Seawave Acoustic from just 9 meters of flat copper wire. This makes the signal path considerably shorter than in speakers with traditional inductors, and you hear that directly. Ultimately, all these ultra high-quality components are connected together via NSC, which stands for Non Soldering Connection. The entire Seawave AM23 uses no trace of solder. All components are crimped together under high pressure. Even the Litz wires of the units themselves are crimped directly to the internal wiring. We have never seen or heard anything like this. The reason for NSC is that Seawave Acoustic believes that soldering impedes and distorts the current, so dynamics are lost. By using NSC, the dynamics are preserved and the speakers sound much more open. Finally, the included stands are also made of solid aluminium, with blunt plastic spikes on the underside, and hardmetal spikes and coupling pieces between the housing and the stands. Technically, the Seawave Acoustic AM23 is therefore a technical masterpiece, and we can confidently claim that the Seawave AM23 ranks among the most advanced studio monitors on the planet. But good technology is nice, of course, but how does it sound?

Sound: Once placed and positioned correctly, an enormous musical soundstage reveals itself that is very spatial, precise and refined. The bass goes very deep and is very potent, and sounds very precise. Even at high volumes, the control is phenomenal. The transition to the mid/high horn is inaudible. The low, mid and high frequencies work together very harmoniously, creating an intriguing listening experience. A musical stage unfolds that we have never before heard from a monitor of this size. Holographic is a word that always comes to mind when we listen to a Seawave Acoustic speaker. A large 3D bubble, excellent dynamic reproduction, and the AM23 sounds super transparent, but, and this is remarkable, it sounds full and round at the same time. Also remarkable is that, despite the midrange driver being in a horn, you don't suffer from horn coloration and the sound doesn't sound like a typical horn speaker. The Seawave AM23 is a true musical speaker, which can punch hard when needed, but remains very controlled in the process. But the Seawave AM23 can also play at quiet room volume and then you can still enjoy the entire recording in a refined and musical way.
