General: The Bricasti S7 is the first speaker in production from American high-end audio brand Bricasti Design. Starting with high-end recording equipment for the professional audio world, the company quickly expanded into high-end consumer hi-fi products, beginning with the renowned M1 DAC and followed by power amplifiers, a network player, preamp, and CD/SACD transport. Now comes their own speaker, the new Bricasti S7.

Technical: The Bricasti S7 is a sophisticated design using exclusively components and drivers of the highest quality. The tweeter is a 25mm Beryllium dome tweeter for clean and accurate high-frequency reproduction. The midrange driver is a unique 74mm carbon fiber dome midrange, which you don't see very often, and that's a shame because dome midranges are generally very musical and have excellent radiation characteristics. The larger dispersion of the dome midrange delivers spacious and natural imaging, filling the room better with music and providing a larger sweet spot. The bass woofers consist of two 7.5-inch drivers with a carbon membrane like the midrange. All these drivers are lightweight, rigid, and virtually free of distortion. The crossover is also exceptionally well-finished, with components point-to-point soldered and mounted on an MDF board for natural resonance behavior. With an average sensitivity of 89dB at 1 Watt and a 4 Ohm nominal impedance, the Bricasti S7 is easily driven by most quality amplifiers.

The Bricasti S7 enclosure is exceptionally well-built and weighs 54.43 kg per speaker. It's a vented enclosure with bass-reflex system where the two woofers occupy their own internal compartment, reducing resonance interference on the midrange and tweeter, which have their own dedicated compartments. The tweeter and midrange are mounted on a thick, solid CNC-machined aluminum plate, which is then mounted to the speaker enclosure, ensuring optimal mechanical stability for these critical and sensitive drivers. The base plate of the Bricasti S7 is extremely solid and stable, also made from solid CNC-machined aluminum, and features Stillpoints Ultra 5 V2 isolation devices underneath for optimal decoupling, resulting in tighter and more pronounced analog reproduction.

Listening: Everything about the Bricasti S7 speakers screams 'high end', the build quality, the design (both technically and visually) and the drivers and components used. But of course, when listening to the Bricasti S7, the words 'high' and 'end' come to mind as well. The sound of the Bricasti S7 is remarkably clean, rhythmic and detailed. The bass is tight and goes incredibly deep, the bass reproduction is extremely solid which provides a beautiful, controlled and balanced overall picture. Although the bass is very deep and powerful, it never gets in the way of the midtones or high tones. Thanks to the carbon dome midrange driver, the spatial imaging and presentation of the music is very intriguing and engaging. The midrange where the voices and instruments are located sounds clear, natural and organic. Not only does the reproduction feel very 'authentic', it is also simply musical and very pleasant to listen to. For the fresh and detailed high tones at both micro and macro level, the Beryllium tweeter does its job perfectly. The bass, midrange and treble also blend seamlessly and coherently, creating a beautiful, musical and harmonious whole. The Bricasti S7 speaker is a textbook example of very thoughtful design and also an example of how a high-end speaker should sound: complete, detailed, musical and simply fascinating.
