General: Floor-standing version of the Sonus Faber Electa Amator III in the unique Graphite finish, which carries a 20% surcharge compared to the standard walnut version.

Technology: The Sonus Faber Maxima Amator is a floor-standing loudspeaker made of solid walnut. It is the cabinet with the longest pieces of solid wood ever produced by Sonus Faber. The wood was dried very carefully over many years and bonded together with special glue. Walnut is heavy, strong, very dense and resonates extremely little. The loudspeaker drivers are the same as in the Electa Amator III, yet the Maxima Amator sounds different. The cabinet volume is much larger, which results in a purer and smoother bass response. But the biggest difference is the crossover. It is now a Single Wiring crossover with entirely new technologies. The components in the crossover are also different. For example, the air-core coils are enormously large, and they use litz wire instead of solid core. The high-quality crossover sits in a separate, vibration-free housing, and it is also in plain view. It sits behind glass, close to the terminals. The tweeter is a neodymium magnet-driven 28mm D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter housed in its own compartment within the cabinet. It is a truly sublime tweeter, one of the most musical on the market. The bass/midrange driver is a 180mm unit driven by a large conventional magnet, because the aim was a very smooth and pure midrange. The crossover frequency is low, at 2100 Hz. The base of the Sonus Faber Maxima Amator is made of dark solid natural stone, carefully selected to match the gorgeous neutral Graphite finish. The Sonus Faber Maxima Amator was a passion project for Sonus Faber, and the sonic result is outstanding.

Listening: The Sonus Faber Maxima Amator is a unique loudspeaker. Like the Electa Amator III, this is a special loudspeaker. You immediately feel at home. The sound is open, soft and spacious. But what stands out most is the enormous naturalness. The Sonus Faber Maxima Amator is not a loudspeaker you have to run in for 1000 hours before you can enjoy it, it sounds good right away. But after a few hundred hours you will notice improvements in overall harmony and coherence, the sound detaches further from the speakers, and the bass 'rolls' toward you, so to speak. This young set in perfect condition has already been played for a few hours and therefore sounds sublime. Compared to the Electa Amator III, the Sonus Faber Maxima Amator sounds more mature, and the bass is deeper and better contoured. The Sonus Faber Maxima Amator can also play loud without distortion, but it is not a disco speaker. It is a loudspeaker for the enthusiast who loves a beautiful, homely design with its rich, spacious and pleasant sound. We invite you to come and listen to this Sonus Faber Maxima Amator at our store. We are very enthusiastic, and we are quite sure you will be too.
