Technology : The Analysis Audio Amphitryon are handcrafted in Greece, the cabinet is made of solid HDF and they have a very distinctive yet subtly sophisticated look. A design that looks very nice for magnetostatic planar loudspeakers. In terms of specifications, the Analysis Audio Amphitryon are not the easiest loudspeakers to drive, but once connected to a quality amplifier with some power (including tube amplifiers) you will find that everything becomes easier and smoother than expected. This is due to the very stable impedance and the impressive range of the ribbons that are up to 2 meters high, where the sound is directed much more forward than with cone and dome tweeters and therefore sounds louder and more stable the further you sit away from them. In fact, if you play both a standard loudspeaker and the Analysis Audio Amphitryon at 86dB from 1 meter distance, then at 4 meters distance the standard loudspeaker will measure 74dB while the Analysis Audio Amphitryon will still measure 80dB. This is a difference of 6dB, in other words 2 x as loud as the standard loudspeaker. This also results in a smoother 6dB per octave crossover where the bass, midrange and treble remain more balanced at distance and sound as they should.

Listening : The Analysis Audio Amphitryon sound very refined and detailed and especially very sophisticated. These Amphitryons deliver an enormous soundscape with beautiful and dynamic music. The Analysis Audio Amphitryon never sounds aggressive, always sensitive. The bass goes much deeper than some cone loudspeakers and remains crystal clear. You can happily sell your subwoofer. The soundstage of the Analysis Audio Amphitryon is huge!. Enormously large and lively, everything is placed exactly in the right spot and the Analysis Audio Amphitryon provide a true live experience.
