General : The Borresen T5 is the largest floorstanding speaker from the latest T-series speakers by Audio Group Denmark, it is the successor to the Borresen 05. The Borresen T5 is improved in many aspects compared to its predecessor and features the most modern technology available today.

Enclosure : The enclosure of the Borresen T5 is larger and heavier than those of the 05, combined with the new Borresen IronFree5 drivers, this delivers a more solid, tight, and controlled bass response. The enclosure is internally reinforced with hardwood braces machined from a single piece, paired with carbon fiber reinforcement, making the enclosure many times more rigid than its predecessor. The internal airflow has also been improved. On the outside of the enclosure, you'll find 3 slots on the sides lined with carbon fiber, which not only look great but also contribute to the overall rigidity of the enclosure and better resonance response. There are bass reflex ports on the rear as well as a port for venting the ribbon tweeter. Some distance from the rear wall is therefore desirable, although the Borresen T5 can be placed much closer to the wall than you might expect. For optimal sound quality, in our view a minimum distance of 50cm from the rear wall is desirable in a room with good acoustics, but often a somewhat larger distance is preferred. The Borresen T5 is available in a stunning high-gloss walnut finish, as well as a clean high-gloss black finish. On the rear, there are speaker terminals for banana plugs. The Borresen T5 has BiWire terminals, making Bi-Amping possible for even better performance. High-quality Ansuz BiWire splitters are included for those with single-wire cables and one amplifier; these splitters, like the T5 itself, only accept banana plugs. Additionally, below the speaker inputs there is a BNC input which is used for the supplied 14 Volt adapters or to be powered from an Ansuz PowerBox. This 14 Volt connection powers the latest generation Ansuz active noise cancelling technology integrated into the Borresen T5.

T5 Cryo and T5 Silver Supreme Edition (SSE) : The Borresen T5 is available as T5 Cryo or T5 SSE. The differences between the two speakers are significant, the T5 Cryo is more competitively priced, but the T5 SSE is considerably better than the Cryo version. In both versions of the T5, all metal parts including the magnet system, baskets, internal wiring, crossover coils, and tweeter are cryogenically treated. Borresen Acoustics performs the cryogenic treatment of metal parts in-house and in their own way. The cryogenic treatment of metal parts is a process that takes a total of 3 days. During the first 24 hours, the metal parts are cooled to cryogenic temperatures. For the next 24 hours, the temperature is kept constant at around -196° Celsius. During the following 24 hours, the temperature of the metal parts is gradually brought back to room temperature. This cryogenic treatment strengthens the metals and removes stress from them, while also improving the conductive properties of the metals in the conductors and coils. But in addition to the cryogenic treatment, the T5 SSE version also features a completely different midrange driver. The T5 SSE contains the IronFree5 Titanium SSE driver. It features not only the in-house manufactured pure silver pole ring in the magnet system, as was also the case with the SSE versions of the 0-series. The T5 SSE also has a special 3D-printed basket made of solid titanium in which the woofer is suspended. This basket is based on the Zirconium basket in the M-series speakers from Borresen Acoustics. The result of the silver pole ring in the magnet system is better conduction and less resistance/inductance, and the result of the titanium basket is better stability and fewer resonances in the woofer. The Borresen T5 SSE sounds more powerful, more transparent, more detailed, and simply more complete than the already excellent T5 Cryo. Both versions share the same DNA, the SSE version simply takes a step further, but you do pay for that as well.

Drivers : The membrane of the midrange and bass woofers has also been improved compared to the membrane used in the 0-series. The membrane in the drivers of the T-series consists of 2 layers of spread tow carbon with a layer of aramid in honeycomb design in between. The carbon layers and the aramid honeycomb layer are pressed firmly together for very high stiffness, these layers are bonded with a small amount of epoxy resin with graphene and boron particles mixed through for optimal stiffness and unique sound. These membranes are very light but extremely strong, these membranes essentially cannot distort. The voice coil of the drivers in the T5 is made of titanium instead of aluminum for less resistance and hysteresis in the magnet system. Copper pole rings are also used in the magnet system for less inductance. The combination of materials and techniques results in an enormously stable driver that has enormous power and control, the membrane is extremely light and stiff, which provides fast acceleration and minimal distortion. And it is driven by a powerful neodymium magnet system. These drivers are manufactured in-house by Audio Group Denmark and are calculated for virtually everything. The tweeter is also made in-house, it is a ribbon tweeter with a moving mass of 0.01(!) grams. This tweeter is extremely stable and linear in its output and distorts barely at all. The filter in the Borresen T5 has also been improved compared to the filter in the 05.

Listening : The Borresen T5 is a true reference speaker that delivers extremely good performance for its size. The sound is what we've come to expect from Borresen: neutral, spatial, clean, detailed, and free from listening fatigue. Comparing the T5 to its predecessor, the 05, you hear clear and immediate improvement in every aspect. The Borresen T5 has a more pleasant, musical, and tighter bass response that is more balanced with the rest of the output. The T5 also performs better in more rooms than the 05; you need to pay less attention to the room around the speakers, whereas this was very important with the 05. The spatial imaging is considerably larger and there is significantly better emotional transfer. In the midrange and treble there is clearly more life and more distinction between background and foreground. You hear more detail and the music is looser, more playful, and simply more interesting to listen to. Borresen Acoustics has clearly taken steps in the right direction to make the Borresen T5 a worthy successor to the 05. The T5 SSE version does even more in terms of precision, air, openness, and detail. With the T5 SSE, the music simply comes across even better compared to the Cryo version. Place the included set of Ansuz Darkz T3W decouplers under the feet of the T5 and enjoy an even more detailed, pronounced, and musical performance.
