General : The Amati G5 is the latest version of the renowned Amati loudspeakers from the Italian brand Sonus Faber. Hence also the G5, as in generation 5. The Amati G5 is an improved version of its predecessor, the Amati Tradition.

Technical : The cabinet of the Amati G5 has remained largely the same compared to its predecessor, the Amati Tradition. The wood veneer is now finished in a V-shape on the top and the round plate with the Sonus Faber logo has been replaced with a subtler 'SF' logo. What has been preserved is the Stealth Ultra Flex bass port on the rear, which not only provides good dispersed airflow at the rear, but also structural integrity for the cabinet. Most improvements have been applied to the technical side of the loudspeakers. New is the improved crossover that Sonus Faber calls the 'Phase Coherent Crossover' which is made with only high-quality components that are hand-soldered. The midrange driver has been completely redesigned featuring a 150mm midrange driver with a specially designed phase plug for the diaphragm which minimizes turbulence and provides a more consistent music wave pattern, resulting in smoother frequency response and better articulation. The two 220mm bass woofers per loudspeaker are powerfully driven by a Dual Drive Neodymium magnet system for optimal, powerful and controlled bass reproduction.

Listening : The Sonus Faber Amati G5 is to date the most effortless playing Amati from Sonus Faber. The Amati G5 takes another step further in terms of clarity, transparency and detail compared to the Amati Tradition. Although the sound of the Amati G5 is dynamic, transparent and lively, the sound is still pleasant as we are used to from Sonus Faber. There is a pleasant sense of calm over the sound and there is a natural but not exaggerated warmth present. The more modern Amati G5 simply sounds tighter in the bass, more articulate and honest in the midrange and more refined and precise in the treble.
