General: The Sonus Faber Lumina III is the small floorstanding speaker from the Sonus Faber Lumina series, solidly and simply built with a sleek and elegant design.

Technology: The Sonus Faber Lumina III is finished to the highest quality according to Sonus Faber standards. Only natural materials are used for the cabinet and drivers. The cabinet itself is a rectangular enclosure finished on all sides with genuine leather. The front is available in several finishes, namely high-gloss black, or real wood veneer in dark Wenge or the lighter Walnut finish. The tweeter, midrange and woofers are also made from natural materials; the two 6 inch woofers and 6 inch midrange are made from paper composite, and the tweeter is an iconic D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) 29mm Kurtmüller silk dome tweeter which is also used in the higher Sonetto series of Sonus Faber, as is the 6 inch midrange which can also be found in the Sonetto series. Around the tweeter, midrange and woofers is a soft material that reduces radiation to the sides, with a beautiful chrome ring around it which is purely for design purposes. The overall appearance is simply stunning. The bass reflex port of the Sonus Faber Lumina III is located on the underside, making the Sonus Faber Lumina III very easy to place, even when positioned close to the rear wall.

Listening: The Sonus Faber Lumina III is a very special small floorstanding speaker that fits nicely into a room in terms of size, yet delivers a big sound with a spacious soundstage. The room is filled with music in a very high-quality manner. The bass is also many times better than you would expect from a speaker of this size. The bass goes slightly deeper than the monitor speakers from the Lumina series, the Lumina I and Lumina II, and the bass is more controlled and smooth thanks to the more spacious cabinet. You can truly hear the Sonus Faber character in the Lumina III. This means you get a beautiful and spacious soundstage, with naturally sounding voices and instruments with lightly warm undertones. The Sonus Faber Lumina III is also rhythmically very good; the sound is fast and open and all details are clearly audible, and the separation of multiple voices or instruments is also very clear. In short, the Sonus Faber Lumina III articulates excellently and lets you enjoy the entire recording and everything that happens within it. The Sonus Faber Lumina III sounds exciting, engaging and intriguing without ever crossing the irritation threshold or causing listening fatigue. The sound is nicely balanced, which means nothing dominates and nothing is given too much or too little, and that is much more pleasant to listen to.
