General : Gigawatt PowerControl is the latest model of the Gigawatt powerconditioners. The PowerControl is a further development of the PowerPrime. Important updates include the standard built-in DC Blocker board, the (switchable) display that indicates the voltage and of course the doubling of the number of outputs. The Gigawatt PowerControl has no fewer than 12 outputs, distributed across 3 separately filtered zones. The Gigawatt PowerControl offers effective protection against overvoltage and at the same time delivers clean, well-filtered power to the appliances. This makes the Gigawatt PowerControl an essential component of any audio system.

DC Blocker Board : A DCB removes the last traces of DC components from the power supply. Although we use 230 Volt AC in Europe, it is often the case that there is still a DC residue in the supplied current. Your equipment may not respond well to this. The transformer can start to hum, and your Hi-Fi equipment can also start to behave erratically. A DC Blocker Board removes the DC components from the power supply so that your Hi-Fi equipment performs optimally.

Construction : All elements of the Gigawatt PowerControl are mounted in a new, rigid steel/ aluminum chassis, with a modular structure. The housing sits on anti-vibration feet, which ensure that the Gigawatt PowerControl is not affected by vibrations and resonances. The new front panel design is made of a thick piece of aerospace aluminum, the surface of which is anodized after careful machining.

Connections : The Gigawatt PowerControl also has an LED light that indicates when it is not connected with correct phase or without grounding. The Gigawatt PowerControl is equipped with twelve outlets, distributed across 3 zones, with connectors that are silver-plated, without the use of intermediate metals such as copper or nickel layers, which can cause harmful series resistance and thus reduce voltage. A strong, stable connection, larger contact surface and a thick layer of silver guarantee perfect contact with the plug pins. Furthermore, the contact sockets are cryogenically treated and demagnetized.

Protection : The Gigawatt PowerControl has no traditional protective elements, such as fuses, which slow down the free flow of current and have a negative impact on sound. Overvoltage protection is provided by a protection block that is integrated into the filter, equipped with plasma spark gaps and a new generation of UltraMOV varistors. This method of protection hardly restricts the flow of current and still provides good protection for both the Gigawatt PowerControl itself and the equipment connected to the Gigawatt.

Internal Wiring : All electronic filter components are mounted using silver solder on PCBs with extremely wide conductive traces made of pure copper (total thickness of conductive layers is as much as 70 micrometers). Due to the short connections and a very large cross-section of the signal paths, the transition resistance is reduced and the current capacity of the entire filter is significantly increased. The internal wiring is based on Gigawatt powercords made of OHFC copper with a cross-section of 4mm2. There are also large, pure distribution bars built in. The large cross-section of each distribution rail (30QMM) and the high wiring conductivity guarantee even and stable distribution of power to each outlet connection - regardless of the load on the other outputs of the PowerControl.

Buffers : The device uses a buffer system with a Gigawatt Audio Grade compensation battery, which increases power efficiency with non-linear loads, for example power amplifiers, and reduces the difference between the input and output power of the power conditioner. This enables almost unlimited impulse capabilities, unheard of in other similar passive conditioners and unreachable for active power regulators.
