Technical : The Array Obsydian A-2 is a separate preamplifier. Derived from the P1 passive preamplifier. However, the Array Obsydian A-2 is partly built with active circuitry. The Array Obsydian A-2 has virtually no distortion. The Array Obsydian A-2 is not a true active preamplifier; it has no gain, but the signal is buffered. Even with weaker sources, such as CD players and D/A converters, you can now drive your power amplifier well and with sufficient volume. The volume control of the Array Obsydian A-2 itself is the same as used in the P1. A relay network, which keeps the output impedance constant and only attenuates. Through the application of these techniques, the Array Obsydian A-2 is one of the fastest and most neutrally sounding preamplifiers on the market. And that at a modest price.
