General : Integrated amplifier from Audiolab, competitively priced with many inputs/outputs and features.

Technical : The sleek and elegant chassis of the 6000A has not prevented Audiolab from equipping us with substantial Class AB amplification. It delivers 2 x 50 Watts at 8 Ohm and 2 x 75 Watts at 4 Ohm. This will be more than sufficient for virtually all listening situations. A look under the hood reveals a substantial ring core transformer and robust cooling fins. But the 6000A is more than just a solid amplifier. It comes with a plethora of digital and analog inputs, including even a phono input. To round out the package, there was even room for a Bluetooth receiver, so connectivity is not lacking. All digital signals to the amplifier are converted by the integrated ES9018 Sabre32 Reference DAC which is capable of processing files up to 192 Khz.

Listening : The Audiolab 6000A has a nicely balanced sound. Enough grip even with complex passages. The treble and upper midrange sound clear without being harsh and the bass is deliciously full. The character is perhaps slightly warm but this is certainly not unpleasant. With these features and balanced sound, you really can't go wrong with this amplifier.
