General : The Avalon Eidolon Diamond is the latest development of the Avalon Eidolon and is also one of the most balanced Avalons ever built.

Technology : As the name suggests, the Avalon Eidolon Diamond is equipped with a pure diamond tweeter that extends linearly to 100kHz without annoying resonances. This tweeter is an extremely expensive 19mm concave diamond tweeter, which is completely inaudible. But this special tweeter is not the only new feature of the Eidolon Diamond. Because of the completely different character and the speed of this unit, the Eidolon Diamond has been completely redesigned. Compared to the Avalon Eidolon Vision, the Avalon Eidolon Diamond is therefore built completely differently. Not visible on the outside, but certainly on the inside. The woofer has received a much more powerful magnet, as has the midrange. The internal bracing and tuning compartments are completely different and adapted to the greater dynamics. The switchable filter has been completely renewed and the internal wiring has been adapted to the much greater bandwidth. The Avalon Eidolon Diamond also extends deeper in the bass and has more power. Compared to the Avalon Time, the Avalon Eidolon Diamond offers similar performance, except that the Time has even more power due to the dual woofer. The loudspeaker cable connection is located on the underside. As close as possible to the filter. This is the best position, but it is difficult to connect. The speaker must be on its side, but fortunately this only needs to be done once. The Eidolon Diamond is demanding with regard to the amplifier. You hear everything, after all. Ohm-Audio bv recommends a heavy but also fast transistor amplifier, such as, for example, the amplifiers from Bricasti, Spectral, Analog Domain, but also a set of Mark Levinson 33H sounds magical with the Avalon Eidolon Diamond.

Listening : An Avalon Eidolon Diamond sounds like no other loudspeaker. Even the standard Eidolon doesn't come close to it. With the Avalon Eidolon Diamond, you're not actually listening to your Hi-Fi system, and not to the recording itself either, but you're listening directly to the performing musicians. So you're listening to the musicians' performance. Very special and rarely heard as clearly as here. The Eidolon Diamond is not localizable in terms of position. The enormous sound sphere is built up in the room and doesn't seem to come from the Avalon Eidolon Diamond. This is music reproduction at a very high level and stands in stark contrast to the many hard and exaggerated dynamic-sounding loudspeaker systems that are often built these days.
