Borresen Z3, High End 2.5-Way Floor-Standing Speaker : SOLD OUT

New Price per Set : € 23.000,00

EN.

General : The Borresen Z3 is a 2.5-way floor-standing speaker of medium size. The Z-series from Borresen Acoustics is more affordable than the pricier 0-series, yet there is no compromise on quality. The tweeter and drivers are identical to the units found in the 0-series from Borresen Acoustics.

Technical : The Borresen Z3 features a very thoughtfully designed construction. The black baffle is made from HDF and features a clean, screw-free design. While the 0-series from Borresen Acoustics is horn-shaped, the Z-series has a square form with rounded corners. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured in-house by Borresen. The drivers and tweeter used are unique. The dipole planar ribbon tweeter is made from a special type of foil and has a moving mass of just 0.01 grams, driven by a fast and super powerful Super-Neodymium N52 magnet. The two 8" and one 4.5" cones are constructed from a 4 millimeter thick 'Nomex Core' design with two layers of non-woven carbon fiber from the Japanese manufacturer 'Toray', a high-tech manufacturer that also produces components for Formula 1 cars and the aerospace industry. Like the tweeter, the cones are driven by a powerful Neodymium N52 magnet. The combination of both a light moving mass and a powerful N52 Neodymium drive results in extremely fast acceleration of the units, delivering rapid sound reproduction. The materials used provide extremely low self-inductance, which minimizes distortion and resonance. The Borresen Z3 is an open system, but through the clever application of diffusors at the bass ports, the bass ports do not emit large sound waves with high energy toward the wall. Instead, the sound waves are dispersed and reduced, resulting in lower energy output from the bass ports. This allows you to place the Borresen Z3 relatively close to the back wall without the bass resonating or dominating. Although a bit of extra space is often preferred for optimal sound quality.

Listening : The Borresen Z3 sounds like no other speaker in its price class. So controlled, so spacious and so refined and free from resonance, at any volume. It immediately becomes clear that we are dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there is an enormous sense of calm throughout. You are immediately placed in the space where the performers are, whether it's a small studio or a large concert hall or even a stadium. The Borresen Z3 captures the atmosphere with great accuracy. The Borresen Z3 can play quite loudly, and even at the highest volumes, the soundstage remains stable and pleasant to listen to. Besides high volumes, you can naturally also enjoy the Borresen Z3 at low volumes. Because of the extremely low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter and drivers, you will hear every detail and see a spacious image even when listening to quiet music at room volume. The Borresen Z3 is a speaker you will probably never want to part with. Unless the 0-series from Borresen Acoustics comes within reach. Simply everything is present: dynamics, speed, rhythm, spaciousness and especially peace and quiet. What more could one ask for?

Cryo Version : The Borresen Acoustics speakers from both the Z-Series and the 0-Series can also be made in a 'Cryo' version. This means that all metal parts are cryogenically treated. Borresen Acoustics performs the cryogenic treatment of metal parts in-house and in their own way. The cryogenic treatment of metal parts is a process that takes a total of 3 days. In the first 24 hours, the metal parts are cooled to cryogenic temperatures. During the next 24 hours, the temperature is kept constantly around -196° Celsius. During the 24 hours that follow, the temperature of the metal parts is gradually brought back to room temperature. The gradual cooling and warming of the metal parts is crucial to prevent thermal stress in the metal. Cryogenic treatment of the metal parts compresses and strengthens the structure of the metal and reduces residual stress in the metal that normally occurs when metal transitions from its liquid phase to a solid phase. The result of cryogenically treating the metal parts is that conductivity increases by approximately 6-8%, resulting in faster and more transparent sound reproduction.
