Technology : The Bricasti M1 is a beautifully constructed DA Converter. Each panel is milled from solid aluminum plates. Super robust and super stable, sonically as well. The internal construction is very special. The Bricasti M1 has a Dual Mono design. It contains three power supplies. One for the Digital Input board, and 2 for the DA Converters and Analog output boards. The DACs and Outputs are thus completely separated. What is also special is that Bricasti handles and converts PCM and DSD signals separately. PCM remains PCM and is converted via the PCM DAC. DSD remains DSD and is converted by Bricasti's own discrete Pure DSD conversion circuit. It cannot be better. The Bricasti M1 samples the digital signals UP, but not down. For PCM there are many digital filters available, and DSD also has 3 of its own filters. The well-known Linear filters and Minimum phase filters (Meridian Anti Apodiging, Wadia) are also present. The Bricasti M1 has a very advanced digital volume control, and you can optionally connect a power amplifier directly to it. A fine aluminum remote control is included. The Bricasti M1 is a construction masterpiece, and sonically there is nothing left to be desired.

Listening : Connecting the Bricasti M1 is simple. Connect your source, USB, SPDIF, Toslink or AES/EBU and you can listen. The first thing that stands out is the analog sound. The sound has body, is calm but also very detailed. The dynamics are overwhelming, but that hardly stands out. It's there when it needs to be there. The 3D imaging is exemplary. A very large space unfolds, from front to back and the sound really comes outside the speakers. We always use the Bricasti's with an Antipodes DX Streamer via USB, or the Lector Digidrive CD player, and in our opinion it cannot sound better or more beautiful.
