General : The Gigawatt LS-2 MK3 is the new, improved version of the uncompromising powercord from Gigawatt LS-2 MK2. The new LS-2 MK3 is the best powercord ever built by Gigawatt. It is the crown jewel of years of research and hard work in designing the perfect powercord. The design principle for the Gigawatt LS-2 MK3 powercord was a "cost no object" approach. No expense or effort was spared in the quest for the perfect powercord. The Gigawatt LS-2 MK3 is also a perfect cable for developing new and upgrading existing Gigawatt powercords.

Construction : The unique characteristic of the Gigawatt LS-2 MK3 is that no off-the-shelf components were used to make this powercord. All components needed for the LS-2 MK3 were designed and made by Gigawatt, specifically for this project, or manufactured externally according to our specifications. Making a single LS-2 MK3 powercord requires many hours of handwork and all stages of the process are carefully inspected. This guarantees the high quality of the product.

Technical : The current-conducting cables, the conductors are made from a bundle of nine solid-core wires with a cross-section of 1.5mm2 each. These conductors are made from OFC pure copper, which is silver-plated and polished. These conductors are inserted separately in bundles of 3 cables each into Teflon sleeves. The solid conductors with a very large cross-section of 4.5mm2 each have exceptionally low resistance, allowing virtually unlimited energy flow through the cable. The loosely twisted conductors limit inductance while capacitance is favorably relatively high. The cable is shielded with a very tight copper shield to protect the conductors against EMI and RFI noise through radiation. The LS-2 MK3 powercord is also protected against vibrations induced by the electromagnetic field around the conductors. The wires themselves are covered with a multi-layer vibration-damping material. The outer sheath of the cable protects it through a black, damping layer of polyolefin fibers and an antistatic mesh that prevents static electricity from arising. Also specifically for the LS-2 MK3, Gigawatt designed a new, dual passive filter made from nano-crystal material. The elements were enclosed in a pure aluminum housing. The filter is installed at a precisely calculated location in the cable and protects the connected device, among other things, against parasitic noise and vibrations at the cable outlet. Special attention has been paid to the high quality, custom-made connectors used to terminate the cable. The solid aluminum construction provides high durability and reliability. The connections are made of solid brass, finished with a Rhodium protective layer. This ensures low resistance and solid construction with frequent insertion and removal of the powercord. The connectors are also cryogenically treated and demagnetized. Their solid housing is made of aluminum. All conductors are connected without soldering and clamped securely in the plugs, which minimizes connection impedance and increases reliability.
