General : Reference class floor-standing speaker with 100dB efficiency, without switchable filter.

Technology : The Hörning Agalme MK2 is a further development of the Agalme, which was introduced over 10 years ago. The cabinet, full range midrange driver, and paper cone tweeter remain unchanged. New are the bass units on the rear. Whereas the Agalme MK1 had a set of 2 x 6 woofers mounted opposite each other, the Agalme MK2 has only 4. These woofers are mounted in the cabinet and covered at the rear with a special sound damper. The new woofers are equipped with the strongest neodymium magnets that exist. The bass units are driven by an N52 force neodymium, the strongest magnetic material in the world. So only 4 woofers are needed instead of 12, and this has a very favorable effect on the impedance curve. The woofer section is electronically completely unfiltered; the woofers are therefore driven full-range. The full-range midrange driver is a heavily modified Lowter unit, the PM65H, and it is the unit with probably the largest magnet in the world. This unit is driven unfiltered in the Agalme MK2. In the Agalme MK1, some notch filters were still used, but in the new situation only 1 notch filter has been placed. The PM65H is completely unfiltered and performs acoustically between 100Hz and 10,000Hz. The entire important range is thus represented by 1 unit, without a phase-distorting filter. The high frequencies are represented by a paper cone tweeter without spider. Super fast, super light, and according to Tommy Hörning the best tweeter in the world. The Hörning Agalme MK2 is a large and very complex speaker, which is completely acoustically fused into 1 phase-coherent source, and with an enormously high efficiency of 100dB. Even a small tube amplifier works excellently with the Hörning Agalme MK2.

Sound : Listening to the Hörning Agalme MK2 is a remarkable experience. The soundstage is enormous. There is immediately a live feeling when listening to the music. The stage is genuinely lifelike. Bass reproduction is very deep, smooth, and tuneful. The bass lives and is presented without any feeling of stress. Vocal reproduction in the important midrange is also very natural. Lively, without any harshness. The reproduction of the high tones fits perfectly into the whole. Super fast and natural, it hardly stands out. The reproduction of the Hörning Agalme MK2 can be described as somewhat warm, with a natural warmth. Very pleasant.
