General :Exclusive floor-standing speakers from Hyperion Sound Design. The midrange drivers were replaced in July 2020 with the latest generation midrange drivers from Hyperion Sound Design, which are also used in the HPS-968.

Technology : The Hyperion HPS-938 features effective technology. The cabinet consists of 2 parts, the upper section features the tweeter and midrange driver, and the lower section consists of a large enclosure for the bass with two 8 inch woofers. The tweeter is a beautiful 1 inch silk dome tweeter housed in a sort of brass horn formation. This provides excellent direct radiation. Below the tweeter is the 6.5 inch carbon fiber midrange driver. A lightweight, durable and rigid material that provides fast and neutral sound. This midrange driver is from the latest generation of Hyperion Sound Design. The main difference between the older generation and the newest generation is that the older generation has a thick, soft rubber surround around the unit. With the latest generation, this has been replaced with a thinner, flat and rigid surround, resulting in purer and more open reproduction. The woofers are two 8 inch graphite-treated SVF (Synchro Vibrate Flattop) woofers, where the dust cap is not domed but flat. This ensures that the sound is reproduced extremely direct and pure with minimal distortion at high volumes. The Hyperion HPS-938 has an impedance of 6 Ohm, minimum 3.8 Ohm, and efficiency of 90dB at 1 Watt. The Hyperion HPS-938 are therefore fairly easy to drive for virtually any amplifier, including tube amplifiers.

Listening : The Hyperion HPS-938 sounds very natural and refined, the bass goes deep without overwhelming or resonating. The soundstage is beautifully large and powerful. Thanks to Hyperion's technology, they can also play quite loud without distorting, but even at low volumes they reveal everything. With the newer midrange drivers, this system sounds more open and dynamic than a standard Hyperion HPS-938 set, but they still have the same magic that the standard HPS-938 possesses, you simply hear more. The Hyperion HPS-938 are very versatile and forgiving, every music genre sounds beautiful on this system and inferior recordings are reproduced well without causing any listener fatigue. Both in large and small listening rooms the Hyperion HPS-938 perform excellently. This set of Hyperion HPS-938 is ready for many more years of musical enjoyment in your home.
