General : Excellent 3.5-way speaker from JBL.

Technical : The JBL LS80 consists of two 8" basswoofers driven by Neodymium magnets, the woofers' frame is made of cast aluminum. For the midtones, there is a 2" titanium compression midrange driver with a horn, which is also driven by a Neodymium magnet. For the high tones, there is a 19mm polyester-film ring tweeter with a frequency range up to 40kHz. All of this is housed in a sturdy enclosure weighing approximately 35kg, very solid and resonance-damped. The JBL LS80 has an impedance of 6 Ohms and a sensitivity of 90dB at 1 Watt, so they are also easy to drive.

Listening : The JBL LS80 sounds exceptionally good for its price. The first thing that stood out was the depth and purity of the bass, this without any effort, even with a small amplifier. The soundstage is rendered excellently thanks to the compression unit with horn, which can reproduce sound very clearly and naturally. The highs are nicely crisp and detailed but do not cross the irritation threshold. Even the more modest recordings are rendered excellently. The JBL LS80 delivers beautiful, simple sound, just as it should be, effortlessly and without unnecessary frills. All in all, the JBL LS80 is a beautiful all-around speaker that can be used for any music genre and is easy to place and drive.
